I knew all that building, building, building over the years was going to bring trouble. It just didn't make sense. I wondered then how they were going to find people to buy those apartments and just how they were getting the money to build those monster condo buildings.

BILLY, UP UNTIL A FEW YEARS AGO, 4,000 PEOPLE A DAY WERE MOVING TO FLORIDA "BUYING" THOSE HOMES AT MUCH LOWER PRICES THAN HOUSES UP NORTH..
FLORIDA WAS MUCH CHEAPER THAN THE REST OF THE COUNTRY TO LIVE AT ONE TIME....NOT ANYMORE...

I know, now it's all horribly wrong. Prices are higher than ever and nobody's buying. I know there's a condo development near the Sawgrass Mills Mall that was near ready when I left in November last year, it's near absolutely nothing, 30 stories tall and all you can see is the parking lot of the mall. I don't know what's the idea behind that.

Over here on the West Coast, I see moving trucks everyday at different homes, and they are leaving for who knows where, foreclosures on nearly every block, and whose to blame, just about everyone, those that bought at the high peak in 2005/06, banks/mortgages giving everyone a loan and the builders who kept the prices ridiculously high, more than they were worth.

Florida used to be a retiree's dream, sun, beaches and gorgeous women. Not anymore, sure you still have the sun, beaches and empty homes as far as the eyes can see.

Time to catch the last train out of Clarksville......

I, for one, am going to take my 350K that I saved from collecting box tops and redeeming bottles at the supermarket and buy a condo that at least has a view of something more than a parking lot.

Hey, Billy - Check out Hollywood Beach - lotsa foreclosures, lotsa bargains. The Banks don't wanna be in the real estate business. Remember the S&L meltdown in the early 90's. Made a small bundle then.
