Some conservative groups are citing the claim that cartoon character Sponge Bob Squarepants is gay. Apparently he holds his friend Patrick's hand. They feel this cartoon is not appropriate for kids. I've never watched Sponge Bob so I have no idea what is going on.

Ya know, a few yrs. ago, they said the same thing about that Teletubbies character, the purple guy who carried around a "bag", but it wasn't a handbag, it was sort of a shopping bag.

Now, they're picking on another character. Seems whenever something gets really popular, someone's out there to try and "sponge" off of it.

I've watched both shows, I've still got a young son home, and there was never an indication of whether or not the character was gay.

Look what happened with the Lion King....everybody was saying there were sexual innuendos, religious symbols, Satanic symbols.

The real evil people are the ones that are reading into this shit! Why would they interpret something to be evil, unless they're evil themselves?

What a silly thing to get worked up about. I think some people look too deep into some stuff.

I don't think you can ever look to deep into anything that pertains to your kids. I am not an expert on spongebob...but what I hear is that material related to sponge bob and the gay lifestyle is being distributed to public school teachers , so that they can teach our kids that the gay lifestyle is OK.

I don't think it is OK and I would not want a teacher telling my kids it is. They need to keep their agenda out of the schools. They are pretty good at keeping religion out of the schools.

This is from NBC-TV

Appearing on the "Today Show," the song's composer and founder of the We Are Family Foundation said he thinks his critics are confusing his Web site with another.

"We are called the We Are Family Foundation. There is an organization called We Are Family, which is a gay and lesbian site. I think what happened is they went to that site purely by accident," Rodgers said.

Mikey the schools down here send notices home if they're gonna have a discussion about HIV, drugs, sex, etc. If you don't want your kid to participate, you sign the form and send it back. They take the kids and go to recess or something.

Last night I saw a rerun of All in the Family, where Steffie's principal calls up Edith because he is concerned about her "taking things". Archie's behind Edith, while she's on the phone, shouting, "and bring the prayers back into the school!!!"

And that was in the 70s!!! What would Arch have to say now, with that atheist parent and all the other "commie crapola" going on?

Eeker Confused

Ok, Mikeyd, I have watched Spongebob as I have a 12 year old that loves him.....There is nothing even remotely suggestive in that cartoon. I don't know what schools are doing this, is this even true? What could they possibly find in Spongebob Squarepants that could teach children about a Gay lifestyle? I am really confused here.
It has to be more than hand holding. It's a children's cartoon, children sometimes hold hands.
If you think that two children of the same sex holding hands is somehow a homoerotic thing, then the problem is not with Spongebob, lol.
As an adult , I will sometimes hold a female friends hand while walking. Does not make me gay dude, lol.

I know, I am just agreeing with Greg, Mikolaj...
I didn't mean you personally, lol.
I sometimes say "you", it's a neighborhood thing. So, I was talking to you, not about you, lafhasdhfhasdfh
Is that clear? or was it too much of an explanation? lol

Bill O'Reilly just said he's tried to book Dobson on his program but he keeps dodging him. So, Dobson should shut the hell up if he can't stand behind what he says.

Saying that Barney's gay because he is purple is just as ridiculous as saying that that Teletubbie is gay or Spongebob's gay.

THE TELETUBBIE DUDE WAS LABELED "GAY" BECAUSE OF THE SYMBOL ON HIS HEAD...THE TRIANGULAR SHAPE..TRIANGLES JUST LIKE RAINBOWS ARE A SYMBOL THAT MEANS "GAY PRIDE"...

P.S. THE TRIANGLE IS STILL ON HIS HEAD.. Big Grin .

Oh, is THAT what it was for the Teletubbie guy? I thought it was because he carried a bag around. Sheesh.

Now, what toddler is going to look at Teletubbies and go, "my, my there's goes a gay guy"....innocense is bliss, in this case.

No one is going to "read" anything into it at that age. Same goes for the crapola they spread around with the Lion King movie.

Mad

Did anyone read this? Or is it you don't want your discussions confused by facts?

Spongebob Squarepants is using the song We Are Family as it's theme.
