Well I didn't think I'd ever say this but I agree with the Anti-spying posters here.

It's not a matter of not having something to hide. It's actually a matter of stifling free speech. If you knew that the gov't was actually listening to YOUR phone calls and reading YOUR E-mails you might not say things that you would say otherwise.

Such invasion leads to witch hunts. The gov't then begins to use your words and actions against you with impunity. You begin to fear talking against it and soon they'll be paying your children to inform against you.

It's bad enough (and I don't feel right about it)that I agree with the fact that they invade the privacy of those suspected of Terrorism.
I don't want them in my conversations for any reason at all.

I agree with Charlie. I believe that MORE history is being brought to the surface then was ever allowed before. The reason for that is the right of the American Citizen to say what he feels. There are only a few words that are "frowned upon" and rightfully so. You cannot say Bomb, Hijack, or takeover on an airplane. You cannot yell FIRE in a public place and there may be one or two others but all in all I have the right to say anything I want, Read anything I want, and believe anything I want. When you say the words bomb, blow up, kill, etc on ANY public message board you stand the chance of being flagged by our Gov't. National Security??? I think not. At least not in the sense that they state it. The only thing that is secure is that the nation will be run exactly the way the Gov't wants it to be.

The gov't doesn't stop you from smoking. It doesn't require you to wear a helmut or seat belt. That is ALL the fault of your Insurance Lobbyists. The companies who wine and dine your inept Senators and Govenors in order to lessen the impact on their companies bottom line. You stay healthy there is less for those insurance companies to pay out for. Check your HMO.

I agree with Dennis. The government has more than enough assets to try and protect this
country. Big Brother is a moron. I have a friend Mary Kelly, she is questioned every time
she flies because there is a "Mary Kelly" on the terrorist watch list from the IRA. How
many mary kelly's live in this country? Is are government so stupid and incompetent that
we should worry about them taking away our rights. Your damn right we should. They work for
us and I say we fire them.
