Was there a " suicide" hill in your neighborhood where you went sleigh riding ??

St.Lawrence Ave just off the Cross Bronx Expressway. Ir ran downhill and leveled off right at the service road. But the worst I've seen was in the North West Bronx near the Major Degan Expy. I think it was an extension of W 233rd St.

St.Johns hill,159th st. between Eagle ave.& St.Anns ave.Trolly tracks at bottom of hill made it "suicide hill"

Tom, are you talking about the one steep hill around E. 233rd Street? What avenue or road intersected with that?

That was a BIG one!

Laura; Yes. E 233rd. I remember a snowy night in 1973 as a police officer called to the scene of an accident at the bottom of that hill. A couple from Florida had never seen snow and .. well you know the rest... they skidded allllll the way down the hill into a parked car. No injuries thank God but I almost could not contain the laughter when they asked: "What happened, we were going along so nicely"!
