What would you like to cut?

Tony is right, that cutting is an alternative, but it won't happen. What to cut? There's a plane, cost of many billions that the Pentagon doesn't want or need. Congress won't cut it because parts are manufactured in 43 states. Is it more important to spend billions on an unneeded plane than to close down the work? There's a federal bureaucracy that operates no matter which party is in power. Do you think anyone in congress will back cutting the many useless or incompetent people who have built up seniority? There's enormous waste in the medicare system. A modest proposal--institute a single payer system and contract with the insurance companies to administer it, reviewing everything carefully to eliminate fraud. there are lots of ways and lots of things that could be cut. There is no way in hell that the political class, republican or democrat would ever agree to cuts that could probably save most of what makes a deficit.

How do you think the American people feel when they are hearing from O that the bailout is working.
Then you see the headlines about back to business as usual with the people we have bailed out. No rehiring, more money for big bonuses. It's a matter of time before they start crying again.
Congress needs a time limit, just like all other elected officials, 5yrs, 8yrs.
