I watch a lot of movies on TV but seldom get to the theater, although I did see Million Dollar Baby. Does anyone have a very good current film to recommend?

ROBOTS WAS CUTE... BUT I AWAIT STAR WARS MAY 19........ "MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU"..
The only movies I thought enough of to go to a theater to see were "The Passion of the Christ" and the last two Harry Potter movies. Other than that, I wait for DVD. We belong to that Blockbuster Online thing where we rent all we can for 14.99 a month. Usually it's anywhere from 10 to 15 movies. The last pretty good one was "The Unforgotten" with Julianna Moore.

FRANK I AGREE, BLOCKBUSTER AND NETFLIX ARE GREAT. I USUALLY GET NEW RELEASES THE NEXT DAY AFTER THEY COME OUT ON DVD'S....I ONLY GO TO KIDDIE MOVIES FOR MY KIDS. OTHER THAN THAT , I'LL WAIT.
I FIND IT SO FUNNY THAT YOU WOULD GO TO SEE HARRY POTTER AND NOT OTHERS. LOL YOU HAVE GREAT TASTE!!!!
Well, I have this thing about supporting these hollywood actors that have spoken out against the President and our country. Michael Moore (a total idiot), Barbara Streisand, Whoopi Goldberg, Johnny Depp, George Clooney, Sean Penn, Martin Sheen and recording stars such as Dixie Chicks and Bruce Springsteen (these are all examples, there are many more). These people can live on and on, I wish them no harm. They are entitled to their own opinions. I just feel like I don't want to support their careers by seeing their movies or buying their CDs. It's no big thing really, just my choice, but I know a lot of people in the military who feel the same way I do. I think the Dixie Chicks are pretty much out of business since they made their thoughtless remarks in England. Anyway, I've read all the Harry Potter books and actually enjoyed them and am looking forward to the 6th one coming out soon. I think we all wish we could do a little magic now and then. I do read quite a bit though. Tom Clancy, Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and all of Dan Brown's books (he wrote the DaVinci Code). By the way, I highly support such stars as Charleton Heston, Tom Selleck, Clint Eastwood, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Patricia Heaton (the wife on "Everbody Love's Raymond"), and recording artists like Sara Evans, Toby Keith, Ted Nugent and many others. And I will not drink Starbucks Coffee. Even most liberals who detest the war say they support the troops, Starbuck's has come out and said they support nothing that has to do with the war, even the troops. They refused to sell and ship coffee to the troops in the war zone. This is basically the only way to protest. Silently and hit them in the pocketbook.

Frank, I don't watch Charlton Heston or John Wayne movies and Tom Sellick has never made a good movie. Eastwood is ok, and he usually doesn't ge political but is a Libertarian.
Fortunately there aren't too many Republican entertainers, so I have a lot to choods from.
I can understand why you read King and Koontz. They match your way out personna. Is Clancy still writing about the commies?
I read Dan Brown, but his books are not liked very much by some Catholics.
As far as Dan Brown is concerned. I enjoy the controversy that his books have created in the Catholic Church. I love to see the looks on the faces of the older generation who considers his writings as heresy. And, truth be known, I love to play devil's advocate. Or haven't you noticed. In his last couple of small books, I think Clancy has taken on the A-rabs. Gees, Herb, you mean you never saw "The 10 Commandments", or "Ben-Hur"? Wayne, Sellick, and Eastwood are very similiar, just worked in different generations. True, there are very few Republican entertainers, but that's because the Hollywood left doesn't like them and discriminates against them. I don't mind an entertainer or any person being a democrat. My own family, all of them, are democrats. My dad walked the picket lines in the 50's with Jimmy Hoffa, so that should say how he felt. As far as I'm concerned these entertainers can be who they wanna be. I just don't appreciate them talking bad about the country or the President, especially during a war. In other countries they would be thrown in jail for speaking out. Here they are lauded and applauded, like that idiot supreme, Michael Moore. If they mind their own business and do their job, I have no qualms about them. But to use their popularity and money and the microphone in front of them to belittle the country, the President and the troops, I have a hard time with that. Believe it or not, I'm not so strange. There are a lot of people out there like me in "The RED STATES". I'm just one of the few who doesn't care what other people think and I'm not afraid to state my case.

Frank on this subject I agree with you. Those stars use their star power to influence the common person. Their job is to act or sing nothing else. You or me can't go on TV to express our views.

Entertainers have the same right as you to state their opinions and dislikes. It is no different than Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Hannity, Heston, talkning heads or politicians who use their name recognition to to try to influence opinions.
Don't get me started on that fat bastid Michael Moore. I am so glad his film didn't get nominated for an Oscar.
I, too, abhore these stars who use their fame as a political platform. I am a huge Beatles fan, but have begun to dislike McCartney. He took advantage of 9/11, recording a song called, "Freedom", performed it at a post 9/11 concert for the police and firefighters of NYC, plugged it as a song on his new CD coming out, said he was sitting on the runway at JFK getting ready to fly to England when he saw the planes fly into the towers! You can't see shit from the runway, let alone the buildings.
Then, he blasts Tony Blair for sending troops into Iraq, allies with America. Says he is against the war, yet he sings about "fighting for the right for our freedom".
He's a pompous ass and a hypocrit.
They should stick to what they do best...entertain, and sometimes, even that sucks.

Herb, wait a minute...you cannot put Hannity, Limbaugh, and O'Reilly and all the other talk shows into the same category as the entertainers. They have those shows to discuss news of the day, political agenda, etc. That's what their forte is. They do not sing, dance, tell jokes for a living. Talking about current events IS their job.

I forgot Mel Gibson, and he's probably my favorite right about now. It took a hell of a lot of guts for him to make the "Passion", but it paid off and he made a rather large fortune. Enough to take care of his wife and 8 kids or whatever he has.

As for Dan Brown, too bad he took the idea from another book. Read Bloodline of the Holy Grail by Laurence Gardner published in 1997. He wrote the same thing.

Obviously it doesn't make any difference, Dennis. Brown's book sold many more copies. You are one contrary SOB. Anything to be different. And I thought I was the devil's advocate.

So that condones plagarism?

Plagarism is using somebody else's ideas. If you read Bloodline of the Holy Grail you would see that Dan Brown's entire premise was taken from this book.

Laura, all those people you mentioned do not even consider themselves as reporters. They are in the entertainment business. The celebrities also comment on the news and the governemnt. No difference.
