maybe I should get a gun-It would be fun to practice skeet. My mother is a good shot-she comes from a long line of German marksmen in gun clubs. They also used to practice shooting from their apartment balcony in Brooklyn!

Let's see, in Brooklyn, the targets could only be what, Italian??

Gees, Paula, was that a 12 gauge BB gun??

I am going to my grandsons birthday party tonight at Chucky Cheese and will pack a gun. A few years ago a disguntles ex-employe went back to Chucky Cheese and killed several employees and patrons. Most of the Chucky Cheese place closed here after that. A new one opened recently.

I don't know about THAT, but I'm sure there were some tensions in the area.
For example, my mom's family lived near and went to St. Leonard's of Port Maurice, a Roman Catholic Church formerly located at 199 Jefferson Street which is at the corner of Wilson Avenue and Jefferson Street in Bushwick, Brooklyn. At the time, the area was German, but Italians were "moving in" -as they say, and so there was some hostility between the churchgoers.
At one point, the Germans formed a circle around the church and locked hands to keep the Italians out. Guess what the Italians did? Not having a church of their own, the wives of the community collected their wedding rings and sold them to form their own church!
