I KNOW I AM CONCERNED. AS FAR AS BEING SCARED, I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S AHEAD. I HAVEN'T LIVED THROUGH THE GREAT DEPRESSION, AND FOR SOME REASON BY THE GRACE OF GOD WE ALWAYS GOT BY, SO I DON'T REALLY KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT! I PRAY THAT WE AS A NATION BEGIN TO HEAL FROM ALL THIS TURMOIL, AND THIS ECONOMIC DISASTER THAT WAITS FOR US ABATES QUICKLY. SO MANY ARE SO DEPENDANT ON THEIR GOVERNMENT AND I'M AFRAID TO THINK WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN IF THIS GOVERNMENT DOESN'T PULL IT TOGETHER.
Norie, if we maintain a moderate lifestyle and eliminate all of the excesses many of us have become used to we will weather this crisis as we have in the past. Easy credit has spoiled many of us and we have become used to borrowing cheap money to support our expensive habits. Instead of a Cadillac I drive a Kia.
THERE IS NOTHING AS JEALOUS AS THE TRUTH!!

We are our own worst enemy. We wont stop going places to save money. We wont drive a smaller car to save gas.We don't want to educate ourselves to help us out.The world sees us for what we are and they take advantage of us at every turn.Unfortunatelythe little people(which is most of us)have to pay the price. And the answer to the question is yes I'm afraid of whats ahead.

IF ANY OF YOU DOUBT THAT THE COUNTRY IS GOING TO SEE A MAJOR DEPRESSION TAKE A LOOK AT WALL ST! THE HOUSE JUST VOTED NOT TO ACCEPT THE BAILOUT PROGRAM, AND THE STOCK MARKET LOST 685 POINTS! WHEN DID WE EVER SEE THAT? I'M AFRAID IT'S STARTING!
Norie, I do believe the "final bell" clanged in at the exact number of 777. (Phew, I'm glad it wasn't 111 points lower, or I'd REALLY be scared!)
To answer your question: NOPE! Not scared at all. I've been living 'close to the vest' since 1946, makes no difference to me either way. We were given free will AND a chance to live by the "honor system" and screwed up both. Let the (blue) chips fall where they may.

I know, Colin, I don't mean to make light of ANYBODY's misfortune. There are far too many innocent people who got caught up in the 'tangled webs' woven by Wall Street, the banks, the shady mortgage co's, etc. We're really are all in this together, and my "jokes" are not meant to hurt, just to take the sting out a little. Honest.

Belmont, I have no idea if you're showing an internet personality or whether you're unhinged, based on your posts the last week or so. I don't know why you're making your snide remarks at me. I simply was commenting on a term that's commonly used by investors, something I've done for a living. Look up dead cat bounce on wikipedia. As to my name, it's Matthew. I won't tell you what the Con stands for other than it's part of my last name. I don't show that name because there are too many crazy people on the internet and I'd rather not be bothered. If you want to trade insults with me, you'll lose and we'll probably both be banned. Doesn't bother me as I have lots to do and only get here occasionally. You seem to have a lot of your life invested here.
Matt, I'm sorry for the initial misunderstanding, but I had the feeling that you were coming after me for no reason. Let's not "trade insults" okay? It serves no purpose other than to give demented people reason to gloat. No, I'm not "unhinged" -- this has been an extremely tough year for me emotionally, and if I sounded 'unhinged,' it was because somebody was deliberately baiting (and hurting) me. No offense taken, and none meant.

Oh, Matt, one more thing. I type 100wpm, and process thoughts even faster than that which could make it seem like I'm on this board all day & night. If I "seem to have a lot of my 'life' invested here," trust me, this is just a pleasant diversion, nothing more...
