AT FORT HOOD, TEXAS? I JUST HEARD 19 PEOPLE WERE SHOT THERE.
7 DEAD, 12 WOUNDED. 2 GUNMAN, ONE IN CUSTODY AND TWO AT LARGE.


UPDATE: 12 DEAD, 31 INJURED.1 GUNMAN HAD 2 HANDGUNS, WAS SHOT DEAD, 2 OTHER SOLDIERS IN CUSTODY. THEY SAID THE KILLER WAS A MAJOR, AND THE VICTIMS WERE ABOUT TO BE DEPLOYED TO IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN.

MY HEART GOES OUT TO ALL OF THESE INNOCENT PEOPLE.

The shooter is identifed as Army Major Malik Hasan, a doctor and mental health professional. He was allegedly upset over an upcoming deployment to Iraq. 12 soldiers dead and possibly 31 others injured. May the fallen Rest In Peace.

He is not black and the rumor is that he was from Jordan.

He was about to be deployed and was upset.

Stories coming out down here, have him filing a hate crime complaint a week ago. There will be a lot more to come, I am sure.Ft. Hood has lost the most soldiers of any post. A lot of the returning GIs have issues to deal with, wonder what kind of help they got from this guy.

Yes, Fort Hood is the largest Army base. The other two soldiers arrested have been cleared and released. One other suspect remains in custody.

Every news update has more on this guy. Latest that he was treated for alcholism, and got a poor performance review when he was in Wash. DC, before being transferred here.
If it turns out this guy had issues, why would they have him dealing with returning GI;s.Who knows what goes on in these peoples minds. But if he had a grievance for a hate crime, it would follow the pattern of other killings of this type, or, he just snapped.
Yes Ft. Hood is the largest installation, and has sufferede the most casualties of any post.

The Base Commander just told a press conference that the Major is alive and in stable condition.

Everytime I hear about one of these incidents or some GI doing their 3rd or 4th tour I hate
the Politicans who say we have to stay in these conflicts but never tell the truth. We need
a draft. They know it we know it, they just don't have the balls to call for one because
they will lose their jobs. Better they should than let this insanity continue. Commit or
get out.

Get out is the thing. I heard wrong and the guy is not black, but I did understand that he was saying the muslims need to stand up to the aggressors, meaning the United States. Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan was a soldier who didn't want to go to war, a man of God who defended murder and a doctor who shot up the soldiers he was supposed to heal.

As he lay mute in a hospital bed Thursday night, investigators were scrambling to figure out what prompted his rampage.

Hasan had been a psychiatrist treating wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington until bad reviews got him transferred to Fort Hood, Tex., in July.

He was due to ship out to war, and his family said he did not want to go.

"We've known for the last five years that was his worst nightmare," cousin Nader Hasan told Fox News, calling the suspect "a good American."

He said his cousin "was dealing with some harassment from his military colleagues." KXXV-TV reported someone keyed the word "Allah" into Hasan's car last week and he reported it as a hate crime.

A former co-worker told Fox News the Army major opposed the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"He said maybe the Muslims should stand up and fight against the aggressor," Col. Terry Lee said.

"At first, we thought he was talking about how Muslims should stand up and help the armed forces in Iraq and in Afghanistan, but apparently that wasn't the case."

Before being sent to Texas, Hasan, 39, lived in Silver Spring, Md., where a former imam at the Muslim Community Center described him as devout.

He attended daily services and signed up for the mosque's matchmaking service.

"He wanted a wife more religious than him," Faizul Khan told the Daily News. "She had to pray five times a day. She had to wear the hajib. He was a young, good looking guy and a physician but he couldn't find anybody."

Khan said he never heard Hasan express any political opinions. But at least once this year, Hasan apparently went online to defend suicide bombing.

Responding to a treatise on whether suicide bombers could be martyrs when Islam outlaws suicide, Hasan compared them to a soldier who jumps on a grenade.

"You can call them crazy [if] you want but their act was not one of suicide that is despised by Islam," he wrote.

Hasan was born in Virginia to Palestinian parents who emigrated from Jordan.

His carnage followed several other cases of U.S. soldiers turning homicidal against their comrades.

GIBBY, I DO AGREE WITH YOU. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY REGULAR ARMY IS NOT AS INVOLVED AS RESERVES OR GUARD, OR ARE THEY?

The regular army is fully engaged and the reserves too. They know they need more people but
the prez is not going to institute the draft, Bush told us over and over again how important
the war was and he was afraid to start the draft so what's the chance Obama will.

WELL, WHY CAN'T WE PULL SOME OF THE TROOPS FROM AREAS NOT NEEDED, LIKE GERMANY, OR JAPAN?

MUMBO JUMBO, I COULD NOT CARE LESS ABOUT THIS FREAK'S PROBLEMS, YOU DON'T GO AROUND TO CUBICLES WITH A GUN FIRING INTO HEADS OF PEOPLE, HE'S A COWARD.

He is now in a hospital at Ft. Sam Houston, in San Antonio.
Bits and pieces are coming out now and then about how he has acted recently.
I feel sorry for soldiers of Mid. East descent who are in the military. This is not going to sit well with US soldiers.
