"Many law professors, and others who hold contempt for our Contstitution, preach that the Constitution is a living document. Saying that the Constitution is a living document is the same as saying we don't have a Contstitution. For rules to mean anything, they must be fixed. How many people would like to play me poker and have the rules be 'living'? Depending on 'evolving standards' maybe my two pair could beat your flush." - Walter Williams
I agree with Mr Williams wholeheartedly. I believe the intent of our founding fathers should be considered. But unless we do the amendment thing with all the proper ratifications, it should be taken pretty much verbatim. None of this, "Oh, here's what they really meant." I don't think our founding fathers considered the Internet. There's no right to privacy in the Constitution but everyone says we have one.
I do know that the Congress, in passing laws against sex discrimination, did not consider trans-sexual operations. Contrary to what conservatives believe, it took "activist judges" to allow people to marry any race (are you listening Clarence Thomas?), to say there is a right to privacy, to say that minors cannot be railroaded in criminal charges and to say that separate schools are inherently unequal. |

Of course our founding fathers didn't consider the internet. It took them a month to get a letter back and forth to each other. It's funny how our courts have interpreted the constitution. It's Ok for the ACLU to defend a member of NAMBLA, but they wouldn't come to Terri Schiavo's aid. The constitution says “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion ... .” , it says nothing about the separation of church and state. But it has been interpreted by judges to mean that the 10 Commandments can't be displayed in a public place, that during a holiday such as Christmas, you can't have nativity scenes in public schools, etc. This has all gotten way out of hand. While the students in some California school districts can't mention the bible or Jesus Christ in school, they are forced to read the Koran as a diversity project. That is totally Bogus. Judges have too much power and need to be controlled by congress.

No, Frank. The judges ruled that the 10 Commandments could not be posted in a court house or on the court house lawn. That case with children, I believe, was instruction about Islam, which is badly needed in our public schools. There is no bar to a course about the Bible in public schools.
When school prayer had ended the big fight previously was between (you guessed it!) religious conservatives who wanted the New Testament used and our Jewish friends who wanted some Old Testament in now and then. Bible study in the schools was designed to foster and establish Christianity (and the King James version) as the standard religion in our society. Such an attempt is unconstitutional. |

Considering your president can barely string a coherent sentence together, I wouldn't talk about brains. |

But he was good enough to get an MBA from Harvard. Below are some of the quotes from your wonderful Rhodes Scholar.

First, Ralphie, show me some facts from an independent source, not a gun blog, the I'll respond.
And Frank, if you have enough money & make big enough donations, you can get an MBA from anywhre. How many big donations did the Bush family give to Harvard while George W was there? Your guy has made so many stupid statements that there's actually a word for it. Try typing the word Bushisms in any search engine. And Mikey, I know he's president. You've said it often enough. He's also an embarassment on the world stage. I know "we don't need allies". We can conquer the world on our own. See how far that gets you if we ever come into conflict with China as they field an army of 250,000,000. |

Then you should be quiet. |

Screw the world.

Mike, why don't you write a song "Screw the World". Get it out of your system. Another song could be "Kill them All".

|
|
|
You mean, "Kill Them All, And Let God Sort Them Out!!"

"Stooges Rule!" |
Frank, there was a saying on one of the war blogs I am a member of that went something like this about the insurgents: "It is God's will to judge them; it is our obligation to arrange the meeting". I love it. "Truth is stranger than fiction, Judgie Wudgie!!" ~ Jerome "Curly" Howard |

Absolutely, I'll remember that one!

Nucky judges may have ruled the 10 Commandments outside the court house. As soon as you're called upon and selected as a juror you must swear on the Bible ( Old and New Testament ). Which have the Commandments. Is this not a contradiction
|
|||
|
|
|
Of course it's a contradiction, but since when does that make any difference.

Barry, one doesn't swear on the Bible around here. You hold up your right hand. Also, if you're not a swearer, you can 'affirm.'
Remind me to tell you sometime about the case where the woman had no right hand. |

However, it says on the wall in several courtrooms: "In God We Trust".
