I like George Carlin too. In fact, my college son and I went to see him in person a few yrs. ago in Dallas. Sadly, though, I dunno if he can be funny without resorting to obscene language, because that is his "niche" these days. The crowed EXPECTS him to spew out the "seven most nasty words" list.

His first appearance was a skit as a weatherman on Ed Sullivan, sadly, he WAS funny without being obnoxious. Why did it have to change???

I am no prude, but there's such a thing as funny and just resorting to trash to BE funny.

And why is it that every black comic has to mention the "black/white" thing all the time? Can't they just make jokes at everyday stuff without having to bring race into it every time?

Laura how can you be critical of those comedians who use 4-letter words. You use 4-letter words and neither you or them make a joke funnier by using those words. Although when a woman talks dirty, I get horny.

I am not nasty enough to replace Rickles, but maybe you or Mike would do a better job.

I KNEW someone would bring this up. Oh, the irony, eh? It's one thing to say it, but another thing if that's all you use in your material to get a laugh.

Nothing wrong with cursing per se, as I mentioned, I enjoy Carlin's schtick, it's just that everyone does it to get a laugh anymore, is all I'm saying.

It's like the TV shows...years ago, Lucy couldn't say "pregnant", now it's all this shock value stuff, reality shows,, blah, blah, blah, anything for higher ratings.

No doubt my wife will be in heaven..and putting up with me will be a part of it. But, my wife will be in heaven because she is truly a special lady....I am going to miss her while I rot in hell !! I am hoping she has some pull with the big guy !
