I'm intergenerational, so my faves include Dinah Washington, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn, Doris Day, Joni James, Connie Francis, Eydie Gorme and Barbra (best voice of all). I could have loved Janis Joplin had she come along before I became a snob. Fewer guys that I was crazy about...Tony Bennett (Because of You is my favorite song to this very day), Jerry Vale (best voice of all), Frank Sinatra, Frankie Laine, Eddie Fisher and Buddy Holly.
Easy, for your information, in 1959, I took some of my allowance and bought "Broken-Hearted Melody" by Sarah ('Sassy') Vaughn! And I also bought "Don't You Know" by Della Reese, "What A Difference A Day Makes" by the fabulous Dinah Washington, ANYTHING by Louis Prima & Keely Smith, "Bei Mir Bist Du Shein" (WHO made that a smash hit around 1959??) and anyone else who appealed to me, along with all the new rock & roll records!
My father (and uncles) instilled in me such a love of music, it encompasses just about every genre (except opera, I hate opera) and is the background of my life.

She was born in the Bronx, went to school in the Bronx, and eventually lived in FL. on the West Coast. In her neighborhood she was known as the "German Princess" she was loved and respected by all that knew her. May she rest in peace.
Oh, I'm so sorry to hear of her passing... Were you married to her, or just good friends? She must have been extremely talented to have appeared with such distinguished artists!
I'm sorry, Jose. I know the pain that comes with the loss of a love. Is that the meaning of your touching signature line?

Wow Paula we didn't play music much in our home, and as an adult I really learned to appreciate what music can do for you.It can get some very strong reactions. I have really come to enjoy all the musicians you mentiones, and I also have developed a healthy appetite for Opera. The new generation of performes produce such greats as Celine Dion, Josh Groban, Michael Buble, and many wonderful new talents! Music is not all about Rap, and Country is just as big as Rock, and most of all Music is the universal lanquage!!!!

................................................ I met my Angel when she was a young 15 yr old and I was 21, I was absolutely so in love with her, we got engaged to be married, we stayed together 4 yrs, we never married. Later in life after her married lover pulled some terrible things, she turned to me for help and encouragement, I was with her till the end. I loved her beyond words.
Yes, my signature line is all about my beloved Angel. May she rest in peace.
Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss, and ends with a teardrop.......

Jose, my heart aches for you...she must have been a very, very special lady, and I too hope she is resting in peace. You will see her again, of that I have no doubt.
