Look Uh, I'm not looking for an argument. I believe in what I say.
You state that perhaps commercial tv, dependent on sponsors can be accused of slanting their views.
Well, haven't you ever seen the sponsors announced on a PBS program? Foundations, Corporations.
I don't think the FEDS dictate but like the Fairness Doctrine that has cropped up lately, the FEDS could start looking at how much they contribute to PBS.

I am not looking for an argument at all, and I am disappointed that you think I am. I am just expressing my perceptions.

I would HOPE that PBS would REFUSE fed support of their news media should the feds try to exert pressure to "slant" the presentation of events to best suit the gov't take on things..

I just can't see shows that follow the high ground like McNeil-Lehrer have submitting to gov't pressure.

MY APOLOGY. I SHOULDN'T HAVE USED THE WORD ARGUMENT. HOWEVER, YOU SEEM TO BE INSISTENT THAT THERE IS NO BIAS ON PBS. I have given you some examples of the fact that they are commercial tv in a sense. Your reply to my original statement included the statement that you would disagree on PBS having slanted views to gain sponsorship. Let me give you an example of bias on PBS. Does the name Bill Moyers ring a bell? He is a crafty biased individual.

The "Fed" is funding PBS because pressure was brought on the station to move MORE TO THE RIGHT or they'd go OFF THE AIR...yup, everyone sure does have an "agenda" but, gasp!, never our trustworthy GOVERNMENT! NEVER!!

Yes, the Communist-leftie station that brought you KEN BURNS' brilliant documentaries, MASTERPIECE THEATER, EXPOSES OF CORRUPT, VICIOUS GOVERNMENTS AROUND THE WORLD, Jacques Cousteau, etc etc etc...hell, might as well burn PBS with the BOOKS! Wouldn't want the people learning too much now, would we? Just might start another REV-O-LOOTION!
