I am sure it will be like every other stadium. George will pay for some the taxpayers will pay for some. I hope the Jets get their stadium as well. I am all for new stadiums in the city..Hopefully the Mets will build one also. ( I am not a Mets fan )
I think it's terrible...they restored the old stadium some 20 yrs. ago...what's wrong with it? It's history! Is the new one going to be built in the Bronx or no??

The way the Yankees are playing they better worry about building there team first.I don't think the taxpayers will go along with paying for all these stadiums.I just hope one of them builds a dome over it. I'm with you Laura, they just refurbished it. If they rebuild I hope they make that into a museum about all the Yankee players.

It will not have a dome..the taxpayers will have no choice..and New York City taxpayers have gotten over for a long time with low property taxes anyway....the stadium will be just north of the old stadium and will be a replica of the original stadium complete with the facade. Of course there will be luxury boxes more and better concessions and restrooms.
The new complex will go from 161 ST to 164th St along River Ave.
According to reports, the Yankees are paying for it all, and the gov't will pay for the parking lots (but collect the money from them) and the extension of the 161st St elevated platform and a new Metro North ("NY Central") rail station.
The official announcement is coming on May 1st.
I can see the stadium now as well as the parkland they plan to build on from my terrace/windows at Executive Towers... so I am a bit "on the fence" about how I feel but I must admit I'm sure it will drive up property values in the area.

Isn't Macombs Dam Park just north of the stadium? Is this where they want to build the new one? That is what I am thinking because the park is right across the street and "just north" of Yankee Stadium. That is all the open land available in that area so it must be there, yes?

Yes it is. And that is where the new stadium is going
I think the new stadium will be built north of the current stadium over the south part of John Mullaly Park from 161st to 164th St. Macomb's Dam Park is west of the stadium south of 161st St.
Am I right?
