Subject: In just one year

In just one year . Remember the election in 2006?
Thought you might like to read the following:
A little over one year ago:

1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.

Since voting in a Democratically controlled Congress in 2006 we have seen:

1) Consumer confidence plummet;
2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon;
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate
(stock and mutual fund losses);
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
6) 1% of American home are in foreclosure.

America voted for 'change' in 2006, and we got it!
Remember it's Congress that makes the law, not the President. He has to work
with what's handed to him.

Quote of the Day........'My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the
history of the world. I hope you'll join with me as we try to change it.'
-- Barack Obama

Part 2:

Taxes...Whether Democrat or a Republican you will find these statistics
enlightening and amazing.
<;
www.taxfoundation.org/publ publications/show/151.html

Taxes under Clinton 1999 Taxes under Bush 2008
Single making 30K - tax $8,400 Single making 30K - tax $4,500
Single making 50K - tax $14,000 Single making 50K - tax $12,500
Single making 75K - tax $23,250 Single making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 60K - tax $16,800 Married making 60K- tax $9,000
Married making 75K - tax $21,000 Married making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 125K - tax $38,750 Married making 125K - tax $31,250

Both democratic candidates will return to the higher tax rates

It is amazing how many people who fall into the categories above think Bush
is screwing them and Bill Clinton was the greatest President ever. If Obama
or Hillary are elected, they both say they will repeal the Bush tax cuts and
a good portion of the people who fall into the categories above can't wait
for it to happen. This is like the movie The Sting with Paul Newman; you
scam somebody out of some money and they don't even know what happened.

PART 3:

You think the war in Iraq is costing us too much?
Read this:
Boy am I confused. I have been hammered with the propaganda that it
is the Iraq war and the war on terror that is bankrupting us.

I now find that to be RIDICULOUS.
I hope the following 14 reasons are forwarded over and over again
until they are read so many times that the reader gets sick of reading them.
I

If you want statistics here's some for you:

Yesterday marks another fateful anniversary. It has been five years since President Bush stood in front of a banner that read "Mission Accomplished" and told the world that "major combat operations in Iraq have ended."

Five years later, Bush's triumphalist boast of May 1, 2003 is belied by these staggering statistics:

US TROOPS KILLED & WOUNDED IN IRAQ
May 1, 2003 - 139 killed 524 wounded
May 1, 2008 - 4,056 killed 29,829 wounded

US TROOPS DEPLOYED IN IRAQ
May 1, 2003 - 150,000
May 1, 2008 - 155,000

TOTAL DIRECT COST
May 1, 2003 - $53 billion
May 1, 2008 - $525.9 billion

IMPACT OF THE WAR ON THE US ECONOMY
May 1, 2003 - N/A
May 1, 2008 - $1.3 trillion

PRICE OF OIL
May 1, 2003 - $26 / bbl
May 1, 2008 - $116 / bbl

This past month of April was the deadliest one in Iraq since last September. The official figures: 52 US soldiers killed in combat and 1,073 Iraqis killed in sectarian political violence.

And who would want to be a Republican in this day and age?

The last I heard there isn't a draft so people have a choice to enter into the military during wartime....

Or 26% of the war in Iraq.
When Bush was elected the first time we had a surplus in the treasury. In 8 years, the present administration has run up a debt of over 7 trillion dollars. The above costs over 8 years total 2.7 trillion, where did the other 4.3 trillion dollars go?

Didn't Bush also run on the platform on condensing the Federal government? Good work George, it is now at least twice the size of that of the Clinton administration.

Dennis you are a bright guy. Why do you defend the democrats? They are as bad as the republicans. Bush is a jerk but the congress is also owned by the special interest groups
and corporations here and abroad. I've said it before people have to stop defending these
two corrupt partys and unite against them. Right now it's their country not ours.

Gibby, I have no delusions about the Democrats. I do have trouble with all politicians. We really haven't had a good president in over 40 years.
I agree with you that the corporations own this country. I know my protesting will do no good, but I will protest as long as I live. That's what makes this country great - that I CAN protest.

Oh dear God! This phony excuse for a woman? She and Bill Maher deserve each other, and notice how ugly both of them are. I cannot stomach Ariana and the garbage and filth she spews and the crap she allows on her site. Look she came here to this country, from a country that would have hung her if she tried to speak like she does here, she makes plenty of American moola, she doesn't complain about that, and she married a gay man just for his money. Please, I'd rather shoot myself than hear anything from her.

Taxes under Clinton 1999 Taxes under Bush 2008
Single making 30K - tax $8,400 Single making 30K - tax $4,500
Single making 50K - tax $14,000 Single making 50K - tax $12,500

Sorry CS your whole post is again untrue. You are blaming the Democrats for all of Bush's failed policies. I checked the tax rate for 1999 and you are way off!!!!For a single person with an adjusted gross income the taxes were a little over $3,000 not the $8,400 you quoted, After reading that I knew there was no use in checking out the rest of your post cause as usual it's all nonsense.
For the last 2 years nothing has gotten done in Congress becaue the Republicans are nothing but obstrutionist!!!!The failed policies of this administration has led to the higher costs in fuel, gas and food. He had no Energy policy!And as we all knew the price of oil has been riggedd, and why should or would he care.The OPEC oil Cartel has been draining the life out of us, and he's never done a thin g about it.
The democrats are going to repeal the Bush tax cut's for the wealhiest Americans and why shouldn't they? They have been getting tax breaks at the expense of the middle class and pay less taxes than the majority of Americans.Look at all the importing of China's products, they don't pass inspection here and they are still allowed to sell their junk. China in the last 7 years has over taken this country markets. There are no manufacturing jobs left in this country and that has been the frame work of how this country got built! What has he done to address this problem? Again nothing. And you want to compare Clinton to Bush? It's almost laughable, no it is laughable.
For once, just once I would like to see a post where the facts check out, and you can believe what is posted!!

Illegal aliens are here to stay because Bush failed to seal the borders! When the States complained, Bush replied by prosecuting border patrol guards who did their job! Did he increse the size of the guards nope, did he build the fence he promised, nope, instead what he did was okayed a highway to be built from Mexico to Canada, so the Mexican's can legally smuggle their drugs! They don't even have to pass inspections like every other truck driver in this country. So you tell me how much better off we are since this president has been in office?
