Some people expressed desire to leave this board, some now, some a few weeks ago.
I don't know what happened to cause all this malcontent, but ever since we changed from "mello rolls" to the war in Iraq, and other controversial topics, we've been at each other's throats.
I don't see the reason for people to leave when we've got a good thing going. We can disagree but leave out the name calling. Cursing is fine, hehehehe, I'm done more than my share as long as we are saying "fuck" and not "fuck you"...big diff.
Let's start anew, and keep everyone here, ok?

I don't think anyone should leave. Just do your thing and answer the posts you feel comfortable with. I know it is hard to always hold your temper- we are all human, just try to not insult each other too much!

That's all well and good Laura but how many times have we been through this? It disgust me to see when someone deliberately baits someone, or calls them names, or belittles, or singles someone out. No one comes to the defense of the person who is attacked. And why are they attacked? It's for believing something different, not for being mean or nasty. Not one of you so called people who want to keep something good going came to Paula's defense when she was attacked, not once not twice but several times, and it was done with malicious intent. You see the same thing done to herb. The tolerance given to this one person is unacceptable to me. Frankly I am so tired of it all. You all have really shown what you are made of.Ignore? please it's mighty easy to do if your not the one attacked, but it's awfully hard when your the sole one under fire!!!!

Paula you don't have to thank me for anything. What I said is said for me,I can't stand the hypocrosy of some of these people. DaBronxer you need to get a life and stop being a washwoman.Stick to the topic and try starting over! You have become unbearable and an embarrassment.
It is very sad that one has to just stay away from posting because you try to ignore the fighting. Everyone has opinions, they are like bellybuttons, they are all different and personal. I, personally, don't like confrontations and I would rather not post on anything confrontational. There are many subjects that could be discussed without name calling and childish behavior. My great memories of a wonderful childhood in the greatest boro in the greatest city on earth and discussing those great memories is what I thought this board was about. There is enough grief out in the world today without dragging it into this board.
Norie, Go down to the basement and get that extra layer of skin you took off when you left the Bronx. It's OK for small little Catskill towns but here you're back in the neighborhood with all it's goods and bads. One of the reasons you will rarely see me defend BG is because I know from experience that she can handle herself. I defended LauraB the other day because I don't know her that well and I felt GCP was going over the top. I don't think there's much hypocrisy here. There are a few people who are definately opinionated, some who believe "It's my way or the highway", but all-in-all I think we have some pretty decent and thought provoking posts here. Stick around and have some fun. It's only the internet. It's supposed to be entertaining Laugh!!! LOL
I agree with Laura. I think most of these "attacks" are not meant in anger and if you don't like to get involved in that stuff, don't join in. Go back to the "forum" page and see how posts have been made. There are a few of you complaining, but this board is more active than it's ever been. People are attracted to the topics we've been discussing. I'm having a good time. Yeah, I get pissed occasionally, so what. It gets the heart pumping. I'm sorry some of you aren't having as good a time as I am. Remember, it's only words. Sticks and stones etc, etc, etc.

Come on, herb, after all this time you haven't learned how to block??

Norie, geez, I thought I was doing good here, and now you're attacking everyone when they say let's stop this, but we don't stick up for the person when the shit's going on?
What about ME? I'm not being a hypocrit here, I myself, was the subject of a whole THREAD started by someone, I didn't say why didn't anyone stick up for me? I handled it on my own, even though JohnnyM came to my defense...he should know by now I can take care of myself...LOL...we're all from the Bronx, I thought we had thicker skins than that, I guess not.
I don't understand why you are so upset, really I don't.

I love this topic...kiss and make nice....hey...if you can't take the heat...stay out of the kitchen....If you need to leave...LEAVE. We all take breaks from time to time.
I agree with "clean slate". Though I've never been "attacked" here I have seen some postings/replies that were so MEAN that I wanted to leave the board and never come back.
I came to this board to learn from all of you about the Bronx's past... not the history one would find in a book or a nostalgia magazine or a video; but the little things that individuals remember about the best borough in New York City. Remember, I'm only 35, and I've only lived in the Bronx since January 26th... so I've got a lot to learn about this great place and what went on before I got here!
I would like all of us to get "back in the Bronx" in terms of conversations and postings and replies.
Sincerely, Michael Bronx, NY

Mtbny7, when I lived in the Bronx most of the people were Liberal Democrats. What you se here is not what the Bronx was like, except for the dirty old men. The women were gentle and did not curse in public or in mixed groups. Dirty jokes were usually only told to the same sex group. Things may have changed when I left in the late 50s
The candy store was central to every neighborhood. Pizza and egg-creams were common throughout the Bronx, as were malteds, not mikshakes.
There were several movie theaters in every neighborhood and most people went once a week.
Most neigbohoods were not racially diverse, but there certainly were neighborhoods where most of the people were of the same ethnicity or religion.
That's my start.

And then ..the civil war ended and Herb moved away !!!THe 50' s he speaks of are the 1850's
BG I agree with every single one of your comments above. I, too, have a new respect for herb, he has a dry wit and some really funny one liner/comebacks. You gotta love him even though he plays devil's advocate all the time.
Michael is sweet and sensitive.....don't go, guys, if you don't like our fussin' and fightin', just read the posts that tawk about New Yawk (if you can find any lately) and ignore the rest of the crapola.
I think this board is the BEST it's EVER been...thanks to me...hehehehehe...just kidding.
