Things are starting to fall into place. We have much to be thankful for as we climb out of the recesion.

"U.S. Economy Grew at 3.5% Annual Rate in Third Quarter, Ending Full Year of Decline"

Output of goods and services grew at a 3.5 percent annual rate, faster than economists expected, according to preliminary figures from the Bureau of Economic Analysis.

Even so, it will be months before job-seekers begin to feel the benefits.

Oh that can't be because of the policies of the President. No, no, there must be something else. Let's see how they might try to rationalize this. Perhaps:

(1) It was going to happen anyway
(2) It was because of the actions of Bush
(3) The war stimulated the economy
(4) Capitalism overcame Communism
(5) It is the exact opposite reaction to socialism
(6) Scooby's knock off hand bag business stimulated the economy
(7) Sandy contributed to the economy and paid his taxes
(8) Harper moved to Sweden
(9) ?

#9) The economy sustained a 3 percent surge when President Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize, resulting in the production of 126 million banners, 39 million Obama! Obama! Baseball Caps, and the latest book on the bestseller list sold more that 56 million copies: "How to Overcome Your Retractors in Ten Easy Lessons"

The word in the last sentence should be "Detractors" not "Retractors".

Sorry

#10 Growth is measured by Capital Spending, Consumer Spending and Government Spending. Guess
which two didn't grow and which did?

They are both growing.

Grown is not measured by capital spending. It is measured by what is sold.

Unemployment is still a problem, It could stay that wat for many years and unless things change, it could last forever.

The problem is the outsourcing of jobs and the closing of factories in order to set them up overseas. We have to stop that. We also need to produce more of the stuff that people buy from overseas factories.

We need to establish a program of punishment and rewards. Reward thos companies that bring factories and jobs back to the U,S. We need to punish those who continue to send our jobs overseas.

I AGREE HERB. THE OTHER PROBLEM IS, WE BAILED OUT THE BANKS, CREDIT CARDS COMPANIES, LENDING COMPANIES SO THEY COULD START LENDING AGAIN, AND THEY HAVEN'T DONE THIS.

MOST OF THE PROFITS THEY ARE SHOWING IS DUE TO THE INCREASED FEES THEY ARE GETTING FROM THE CONSUMERS.

THERE STILL SEEMS TO BE A GREED MENTALITY, AND UNTIL WE CHANGE THIS CONCEPT WE WILL NOT RECOVER.

What role do the unions play in making demands on owners of businesses to the point that the manufacturer cannot effeciently create a producy that is competitive price wise?

Isnt that a major reason for out sourcing?

Have unions outplayed their usefulness? Yes, they played an important in getting workers their rights when they were being exploited. I benielve that they are a major factor in causing prices to rise on US goods so that they can no longer compete. Hence we buy from overseas.

IT'S NOT ONLY THAT MIC, BUT BENEFITS LIKE HEALTH INSURANCE, TAXES, UTILITIES ARE ALL DRIVING THE BUSINESS OUT OF THIS COUNTRY.

Scooby, the article said that GOODS and SERVICES rose 3.5%.

Nothing to do with the millions of jobs promised.

What do your posts have to do with the 3.5%?

The cost of health care is the major factor in making U.S. business uncompetitive with other countries. It is not the unions, except for the health care; it is not the taxes, other developed countries have higher taxes but free or low cost health insurance.

OF COURSE YOU DO!!!!!

AS MIC STATED IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WHAT YOU SAY, BUT EVERYTHING TO DO WITH OUTPUT AND SALES. IT'S THE FIRST INCREASE IN THE GDP IN A YEAR, AND THE STRONGEST GROWTH IN 2 YEARS. THE STIMULUS HAS DONE JUST WHAT IT WAS SUPPOSED TO DO.

BEFORE THIS UPSWING, THE US ECONOMY HAD SHRUNK FOR 4 STRAIGHT QUARTERS FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE THE GREAT DEPRESSION. THERE HAVE BEEN GAINS IN CONSUMER SPENDING, INVENTORY DECREASES, AND GAINS IN HOUSING.THE NEXT QUARTER PROBABLY WON'T LOOK AS ROSY.

Excuse me but Goods and Services ROSE by 3.5% for the first time in a year.

Did you read the post at top?

What does that have to do with Insurance or any other thing mentioned?

I was making the point that unions are largely responsible for many US industries being priced out the competition.

Are you aware of how much union benefits etc contribute to the final price of an automobile?

It is nice to know that you have your finger on the pulse of the economy. It is absolutely ridiculous, but in keeping with your M.O. to deny and ignore facts just to further your bias.
