Marty.......I honestly don't see anything wrong with what he is doing. It is not like he is profiting from what he does. He simply tries to enhance the discussions on this board. There are topics that are started by the people here too. I don't think anyone would mind if those were used on another board. I know I wouldn't.

Mike isn't trying to enhance this board or anything else. He is blatantly stealing other peoples' thoughts and ideas with malice aforethought. HE HAS ARROGANTLY STATED THIS TIME AND TIME AGAIN!

So I will not "give it a rest" until his BS stops. Until then, I'm going to identify every post that's stolen from The Bronx USA.

Now let's talk about whether or not anyone's profiting from what he's doing. This board is sponsored by a magazine that is sold, presumably for a profit. That magazine also sells a variety of merchandise, also for a profit. When this board attracts attention, it creates interest in the magazine. . .which leads to sales for both the magazine and the merchandise. . .which leads to profits. So when this someone on this board steals the ideas and words of others, and that leads to increased interest in this board and the magazine and the merchandise. . .and when the management of this board and that magazine condones that theft of ideas. . .that management makes money.

As for the 2 boards co-existing, I'm all for that. I'm am member here and a member there. Neither I nor anyone else at The Bronx USA is responsible for what Mike is doing. He and anyone else can attempt to justify his behavior, but no one has put a gun to his head and forced him to do what he's doing. He's creating the hostility and is fully responsible for it.

Lastly, as for your suggestion that we "go ahead and take your topics," I won't stoop to that level.

MARTY....HOW MANY TIMES ARE THE SAME TOPICS DISCUSSED ON TALK SHOWS. YOU HEAR THEM OVER AND OVER AGAIN FROM SHOW TO SHOW. SHOULD THE ORIGINATOR OF THE TOPIC GO OFF THE WALL BECAUSE HIS TOPIC WAS STOLEN? I THINK NOT. IT IS PUBLIC DOMAIN. IT IS NOT AN IDEA. IT IS SIMPLY A SUBJECT. ALSO, I REALLY DON'T THINK STEVE SAMTUR IS PROFITING FROM ANYTHING THAT MIKE DOES. THAT IS JUST NOT APPLICABLE TO THIS SITUATION. STEVE HAS A THRIVING MAGAZINE BECAUSE HE HAS GREAT ARTICLES OF NOSTALGIA. NOTHING FROM THE WEB BOARD APPEARS IN THE MAGAZINE. THEY ARE TWO SEPARATE ENTITIES.

Marilyn, the issue isn't the stealing of a topic. . .IT'S THE COMPLETE, WORD-FOR-WORD THEFT OF ANOTHER PERSON'S WRITING AND THE ASSUMPTION OF AUTHORSHIP. The only technicality that keeps that from being considered plagiarism in the legal sense is the absence of a copyright. But it's still theft.

At the very least, it shows that the person who posts those writings as his own is a phony because he posts them under his name, as if he were the author. And it shows that the management of this board supports and condones the publication of pirated material under its name and logo.

Don't be so naive as to whether the publisher of the magazine makes any profit from this board. As long as the board carries the name of the magazine, it is a part of that enterprise. The material posted here leads to increased interest in the magazine, increased circulation, increased merchandise sales. . .MORE PROFITS. To use pirated material toward that end is unprincipled, to say the least.

I have a feeling that the material that appears on this board is protected by copyright. I may be wrong, but I intend to find out. If I'm right, and it is indeed protected by copyright, then anything posted here. . .including stolen material. . .becomes the exclusive property of Back In The Bronx.

So you see, there's more to this than just being in a snit because someone posted the same topic that I did.

You want to use an idea I had. . .fine. But do it in your own words.

Marty is not being totally truthful. Marty has always had a problem with this board being tied to the magazine. The fact that Steve makes money bothers him. He has stated that on more than one occasion on that other board. I will find it and bring it here.
