As I mentioned in my last post, we've just returned from Europe. What was noticed in all ports, especially Le Harve, France, was the vast amout of containers from China. In Le Harve the number of containers stacked in multi layer rows seemed to go on forever, There were easily 10,000 containers. This is a major port for distribution all over the continent.
To quote the French tour guide - "more crap from China". So I guess we're not the only ones that have the feeling that everything is made in China.
I saw a BBC invetigative program on the manufacturing of clothes in China for one of the UK's leading clothing chains. It showed people, including very young children, working in deplorable conditions in sweat shops in China.

China will soon own the world.
Now THERE'S a "wake-up call" if I ever saw one. I don't know what the big surprise is about China exploiting its workers, including very young children. They are a ruthless government, and have enough "disposable people" to not care if they work them to death or not.
I just want to know who's responsible (in government) for this entire "Made In China" fiasco.....!!

China's road to the leading economy is a very long road. There are literally hundreds of demonstrations monthly, by people who are unhappy with the government. Their greatest enemy is them!

They are what We were during the Industrial revolution. The big difference is We build their plants and allow their slave labor to produce our products which We buy because it's cheaper. Now that our economy is going down the dumper We have the Ba lls to complain about them. The USA made their bed and sleep under Egyptian cotton sheets made in China.

I think that was a result of the aftermath of WW2, when we were the leading superpower AND manufacturing center, since everybody else was bombed out. So, the U.S. allowed Japan to build up its own manufacturing in order to allow it to thrive economically, after they tried to kill us all....
Makes perfect sense to me..........or the heat is really, really getting to me now!

That's right RP. We the American workers placed price over protecting American workers. In that sense we are the bad guys. Remember though, corporations moved south to get lower labor costs. When it was feasible, they moved the jobs overseas for the cheap labor. The jobs they couldn't move overseas they filled with illegal immigrants. Our government is owned by our businesses (always has been, from day 1) and has been complicit in screwing the American worker at every turn.
