My prom was held at the Waldorf but before the prom you had to go to the Convent and introduce your date to the sisters and visit the chapel. Can you imagine them pulling that today? My dress was strapless with a shawl which the nuns pinned to the top of the dress. LOL George Gobel was the main attraction and we ended up the night at the SI ferry.Helen

Lol,,You are not wrong Barb, I am not the prom type. If I ever went to a prom it would probably turn out like the prom scene in the movie Carrie.

Thanks for your imput Yvonne. Again you seem to have put an end to the discussion by being negative. There must be some good memories you have from your teen years. Please let us hear some of those.

Come on now, let’s not be daffy. I have no power over who posts and doesn’t post. I can not create an end of a discussion to a topic. If people had found your topic interesting, then they would post, I can not make them not post. I made one post saying that I didn’t go to a prom, that’s all I said, what was wrong with me making this post?
Then you asked, a question, which I followed with my answer and then Barb said at the end of her post, that “She could be wrong? So I answered Barbs post that was directed at me. And I made a joke to Barb in my response, Barb is smart, she would be able to see my last post as a joke,,,,,TO HER.

I don’t know what the problem is here on this forum, I made a post that I felt was OK, I said I didn’t go to a prom, what is so bad about that?

Hell if it wasn’t for my posting to this question, there this thread would die a fast death of no one responding.

Damn, why do I always have to make an explanation to the way I answer a post? I have said it before, I will post anything that I want to, there are no rules to what I can post to or not, I wasn’t being nasty to anyone in my post, I kept to the subject.

So don’t blame me for your topic ending, blame the others who didn’t add a word to your thread.

Or maybe blame yourself for making such a boring arse post.

By the time I was a senior I had moved out of The Bronx to East Meadow LI. Our prom (1960) was in the gym and was an all-nighter. It started at 9 pm and ended with breakfast being served at about 7 am. Then we all headed to Jones Beach. The band? We had a leftover from the big band era - Woody Herman and his third herd.

I took a friend, from The Bronx, to her senior prom - I think it was Columbus - also in 1960. Rita S. where are you????

Schwartz - just ignore negative people and people who try to aggrivate you. I find it's easier just to ignore people like her. I did it with my father's second wife and it worked like a charm.

By the way - I went to hundreds of proms. I did prom photos for Varsity Studios for about 30 years.

OH expert one of the forum, maybe you can enlighten me. What was wrong with my post saying that I didn't go to a prom? What the F is the matter with you lot? There are many posts in the general section that make viscious attacks on each other yet my post saying that I didn't go to a prom is soooo bad to you lot.

You can ignore me too red, but I know you will be reading this, tell me red, what was wrong with my answer?

Sheesh, you people got some kind of bug up your arses or something.

Go ahead and ignore me red, I rarely see you post much anyway.

I think what Red and I see is that you responded to this thread negatively. The question posted was. "when, where, and what did you do at you prom", not how many of you did not go to prom and if you did you might behave like "Carrie".

You sent me a private email, which clearly you have had second thoughts about, I would hope that you would re-read that email and respond appropriately to other peoples posts.

I will respond any way I want to and it's up to the owner of the site to say if I am wrong in my posting not you or red.

You nor red can say how someone should answer a post.

Instead of you and red being the judges of my posts, I think it's best if the owner of this site take a look at my first three responses before you made your remarks condeming my posts. I would like him to tell me what was so wrong with my first three posts, especiallly what was was wrong with my first post because the other two posts were just response I made to questions.

Swchartz, don't play judge of the forum, let the owner tell me what was wrong with my posts.

Oh puhleeze, Schwartz, and Red, whatever. Yvonne made a tongue in cheek remark, it cracked me up, and I answered her, she knew what I meant and I knew what she meant. How picayune can you people be? Picky, picky, picky.

You want to be serious nellies, go ahead, I read your posts too, they are what they are like everything else, and Yvonne's mostly are clever.

Life is way too short and there are way too many serious problems to be involved with negative people. I try to be upbeat and enjoy life. I don't judge other peoples responses and I was just responding to Schwartz and not judging Yvonne. I do things that others might not approve of and I would prefer that they not judge me. I only read a portion of her post and chose to ignore the rest of it.

Afterall I'm 64 going on 25.
