Schwartz, nothing anyone says about me on this Board really bothers me. I do not need chicken soup. I would rather have cream of tomato soup.

Actually, the question was "HOW MANY OF YOU WENT TO YOUR SENIOR PROM?", so she answered appropriately. Out of my very large graduating class, the 6 or 7 white kids graduating were told by the prom commitee not to bother buying tickets, because we were not welcome at "their" prom, and we would be "cut" at some point in the evening.
These are OUR experiences in the Bronx, and if some of you do not like "negativity" then join a Disney board where you won't have to read about reality.
ON MY way to my prom, i was waiting downstairs for my limo, when a car load of young negroids drove by throwing bottles of cola and beers at a few white guys on the corner...my girlfriends brother got hit in the forehead and was bleeding...2 hours later a riot broke out in my nabe... other than that, i had to be home before 12 pm because my mother was worried... so we went to the prom and then went out to eat and came home

We are not ignorant of the definition and I have nothing to say about you using it. But it is now concidered incorrect. I know that it won't change the way you feel about our black brothers. This is evident by your use of that word.

YOUR BLACK BROTHERS????? WHAT ARE YOU , A PANTHER "SISTER"..
SO IN OTHER WORDS, BY READING MY WHOLE POST, THE ONE WORD THAT OFFENDED YOU WAS "NEGROID", THE FACT THAT INNOCENT PEOPLE HAD THEIR HEADS SPLIT OPEN MEANS NOTHING OR HOW I SPENT MY PROM??....WOW, ARE YOU COMPASSIONATE AND TOLERANT...
Kgbee, this is the way people think today. It is much worse to say the dreaded "N" word than it is to mug or attack someone. I went through the same stuff you did while living in the Bronx, I think that we lived there during the same time frame, I know what it was like, it was hell, and no liberal talk about brothers and sisters can undo many years of troubles with certain people in my hood.
I am sorry Kgbee that you had such a rough time with your prom, but I do understand what happened to you, I was caught up in the middle of quite a few riots, which for some strange reason never got into the newspapers. I also remember the buses filled with policemen heading for the most recent riot that was taking place. It was not uncommon to see two busses filled with policemen drive down the Concourse. And of course these weren't white people who were rioting.
I even remembering in school one day, a riot broke out and a lone police car got caught in the middle of the riot. The police quickly put the car in reverse and took off. Now, if the police feared for their lives at that moment, how do you think I felt being there, scared that's how I felt. I am like you Kgbee, I didn't have the luxury to move to the suburbs like most of the liberals did back then.

I WENT TO MY PROM WITH MY THEN BOYFRIEND NOW HUSBAND WEARING A YELLOW GOWN, HAIR DONE UP IN GRECIAN CURLS AND HIM IN A WHITE TUX! WE STAYED 30 MINUTES THEN WENT OUT TO EAT, HOW BORING IT WAS! I COULD CARE LESS WHO WAS VOTED KING OR QUEEN, AND AFTER THE PICTURES WERE ALL TAKEN WE LEFT! DO THEY STILL HAVE THEM?
I remember both incidents Cat, and isn't it peculiar how people did ignore what happened to you, (because you and your friends are White) and only picked up on a meaningless word?
Our black brothers? What is she talking about? Black people don't do the things that rioters do, Cathy was talking about the 'other' sorts.

DON'T GET ME WRONG, I ALSO HAVE WONDERFUL MEMORIES OF THE BRONX AS WELL..BUT THE TOPIC WAS "PROM NIGHT" (GREAT MOVIE TOO )....LOL
DO YOU REMEMBER WHEN THE SON OF SAM WAS RUNNING LOOSE AND WE HAD A BLACK OUT??? HAHA
Yea, I remember the blackout, that is if you're talking about the one in the 1970's. Stores on my street were looted, Fordham rd, the street that everyone here loves was looted as well.
Son of Sam, Yea I remember, I was in Forest Hills the day before he struck there, I felt so scared and lucky that I wasn't around there that night he killed.

I know alot of people who feel that way. some think it's magical, others feel it's pointless. I would have liked the chance to have the memory. proms are a big deal for the kids here. limo's, clubs afterwards. costs a small fortune.
I'm sorry Hangingout, I should have aknowledged your post as well as Kgbee's. I kinda know that you understand how I felt about what went on back then so I thought my reply to Kgbee would include your experience as well.
On this forum, you'll see more heartfelt responses to someone that has a cold than you will see about someone that had a rough time back in the Bronx. I think some here don't want to know about bad times in the Bronx, they seem to shut their eyes and minds to what life was really like back then.
