I went to Dewitt Clinton. It was one of my biggest mistakes in life. It was an all boys school at the time and that set me back 20 years in relationships with females.
to Dr.David W.Fuchs (acting principal): Thank you for standing in front of the entrance doors on most mornings to salute the entering Men-of-Clinton with a "Good Morning".
To Ms.Biddabee Gloster (guidance counselor): Thank you for not forcing me to take SWIMMING and for having that "grandmotherly" disposition

Is that why you are in Colorado now, looking for females?
You ain't kidding! To make matters worse, I preceded DWC with Creston, an all boys JHS. The first time I was with a female in my class after the 6th grade was CCNY, and man, did it screw me up. Took me a long time to just relate to women as people. Wait a minute... I still don't. What the hell. I managed to go on to have a good family and two great kids, much later in my life, but the all boys thing really took its toll on lots of levels.
I remember clinton in 1957. There was a guy in the main entrance who would bet anyone that he could leap and toch the light fixture on the ceiling . He did it every time. Bronx high school of science was just being built down the road from us. I can't remember his name at the moment but he was a social studies who made weird sounds in class and threw blackboard erasers at exam cheaters. I have many good memories of Clinton. I'm 64 now and live in rocky point and cholla bay Mexico full time.
I think I remember those people. We had somebody in our gym class who climbed to the top of the rope shimmeyed over to the other side of the gym then climbed down. I graduated in 1960

De Witt CLinton was one of the greatest experiences in my life. The school prepared me to pursue a very successful military and business career. I led men in combat and now lead them in research and development. Hurray for De Witt C!
I graduated from DWC in 1986 and while it was no longer all boys at that time it was a pretty tough school. My best memory is slipping out of an unlocked side door everyday to have lunch with my Grandmother on Van Cortlandt Park South, then sneaking in through that same side door every single day. Never got into trouble for it and that door was always open. I wonder if that door is still unlocked these days?

DeWitt C.. 1965... I mostly remember the lunchroom.. we had these green tokens that you needed for the plates and silverware.. when we got them back, we played table football... I remember the bread pudding was particularly good... It was a good break from the classes, which were tough. Best teacher? Definitely Ms. Herbert, a math teacher.. tough lady but made us learn and we all did well.
DeWitt C - 1968 I never really liked Clinton as all of my close friends went to Taft. I was one block out of the Taft district. Also, I remember the green tokens for plates and silverware. On the last day of school many of us would break our plates and bend the silverware. We obviously didn't get our money back for the tokens but so what!
