Anybody out there remember McCarthy's Candy store on 188 and Marion? Anyone know if any of the family is still around?

Sure John Mc Carthy with the bushy eyebrows. He was a good guy put up with us kids that
hung around on the corner. Don't know what happened to him or his family after the
neighborhood went down hill. I remember when I came home for leave in 1967, John
told me some guy from the government had been in the store asking questions about me.
What John didn't know was that they were checking me out for a security clearance.
Last thing I heard he opened a store over in St. Nicholas Tolentine Parish but that was
long ago.

Thanks Gibby! Say were you a blond headed kid who always had sleeves rolled up? I remember some kids replacing us in 1960 on Doc DiGiacomo's stoop. By then we were starting to go our seperate ways.

Did you ever meet John's daughter Mary Ann? She was gorgeous! It wasn't until I went into the Air Force that I found out she wanted to date me. I got that letter in Basic Training and going AWOL occured to me because she was so pretty. Haha

No I have brown hair, you may be thinking of Billy Norris. Yes we hung out on the Doc's
Stoop. I don't remember John's daughter wish I did. I was always partial to Irish girls.
My wife's maiden name is Reilly. I lived across the street from Doc's, 2463. Good to hear
from someone from the old neighborhood. It was a great place to growup.
