Joe Torre has resigned as manager of the New York Yankees. THANKS FOR THE GREAT RUN. It is a shame it had to end this way. SHAME ON THE YANKEE BRAIN TRUST.

Shame on Steinbrenner, publicly embarassing this man like that.

Joe was going down to Tampa to sign a contract. He was hit with a big pay cut. There is not enough money in the world to work for Steinberner for 12 years. The Yanks could have twice the team for half the money if they treated there people like human beings.

If you win more than last year you should get a raise. If the team doesn't do as well, you should be prepared for a cut in salary.
Five million with a potential for a bonus isn't to shabby. I doubt that any team would pay him more than that. He has had a good run and maybe it is time for him to get out of managing. If he goes into any other profession, his salary will likely be much less. Steinbrenner is not likeable, but he pays his players very well, more than I make. |

Yep, I heard Mattingly and Bowa are not far behind. Would'nt be a real hoot if the Dodgers signed A-Rod!
