In my grammer school days, in the 50's, we played Ring-a-levio, kick-the-can, stick ball, double dutch, and running bases - where the Spaul-deen was hit at the joint of a column of a 3rd Ave El pillar and its base, causing the ball to fly high, giving the player time to "run the bases".
