Hey Mike, how's the Mick doing tonight?? (lol....but I remember what it felt like when he stepped up to the plate; "was this gonna be the one that leaves the Stadium?")

I get a kick out of how people react when an athlete makes an a ss out of himself in public these days..people forget the days when Mick, Billy Martin, Whitey Ford and a few other Yanks used to go downtown when they were in NY and get blasted.......the Yankee Rat Pack.....lol

A few weeks ago we had a school picnic to celebrate the end of the term. So we played our annual softball game, mixed teams, boys, girls, young men and us, the older men who still think we got it..lol. I'm 61, but remarkably, I still play some pretty good ball. I was very athletic, and a Yankee fanatic growing up in the Bronx, and I imitated every one of Micks moves, from his lefty stance, bat straight up, and that wide swing, to running around the bases, head ****ed inside, elbows high. Well, I get up, and whack a shot to deep right. All I heard, in unison from about 50 people, was "Wow". The ball was heading directly for our church, and we all knew what an honor it was to hit one over the church, probably about 275 feet. I'm watchin', "Is it gonna make it?"; didn't look good. Suddenly the ball dipped, and busted a large window in the Sanctuary. It got real quiet, the people couldnt tell whether they should be yelling "hooray" or staying quiet and real humble. Well, they decided to scream, real loud. I humbled myself at first, but couldnt stop myself from smiling just enough, and making a REAL SLOW trip around the bags, head down, elbows high.......I knew what the Mick felt when he busted a few night lights himself...and then I paid for a new window. It was worth it.

We miss ya' Mick.

Steve

Exactly was does getting out more have to do with the fact that we are posting on a NY Yankee Board, and sharing stories about our memories of our childhood etc?

You senile old geezers, went from the yankkee game, to stick ball & diving under cars. Does Alzheimer's keep you from staying on topic?

The Sox split in the stadium.

GO SOX!!!

Anyone have any thoughts about a Subway Series this year as both Yankee and Shea Stadiums will close in October.

I went to the stadium yesterday to buy tickets. They are sold out every seat till the end of the season. I did not believe it. When I was a kid with those great Yankee teams you could get in to almost every game.

dbob, I remember being able to walk up to the ticket kiosk on a Saturday morning back in the 60's and purchase a ticket for game day.

Mike & dbob,

Buying tickets on game day was no big deal when we were kids. And just think, when Lindsey destroyed the stadium, he made it with a smaller amount of seats. The new stadium is going to have even LESS seats. But You better believe they will cost way more. I guess the Steingrabbers don't care, if families, or kids ever get to see a live game. Only yuppies will attend.

Even Warner Wolf, suggests that you watch the games at home.

FENWAY PARK FOREVER!!!
