Anyone care to comment on the lack of snow in our area (NYC, NJ, CT)? Our oldest daughter lives in Denver, and at this moment they are gearing up for another monster storm. We had about two minutes of flurries yesterday, and no sign of anything leading into the New Years weekend. Not that I'm wishing for it, but I really don't care, since we won't be on the road on New Year's Eve. We really had hoped for a White Christmas Eve, but we had to make do with the memories of prior ones. The ski areas in New England are really hurting. The temperatures haven't been cold enough for them to make snow. They might actually be trucking some in, which they've done in the past just to be able to open a couple of trails. If things go as they usually do, the first real nasty storm will coincide with an important appointment or concert for which we have tickets. Oh well.. better than tornadoes, mudslides, wildfires, earthquakes, and the like.

Its almost all traceable to EL Nino. Very warm water in the central pacific ocean. Its caused by hot magma under the ocean. Sorry not global warming for this one

As long as the topic is Snow (Or lack thereof), does anyone remember the great NYC Blizzard of December 31, 1947? I remember days and days of sledding, snow forts, snowball fights, no school (at least for one or two days, anyway)and making a few quarters helping dig out the cars that were parked on our street. That's a long time ago, and I've seen worse up here in CT (e.g. Storm Larry in 1978). Lets get those memory banks unstuck, and share your recollections with or without embelishments.

I remember the Linsey snow storm in 1968. Every st in Manhattan was plowed, but none in the outer boroughs. Linsey took off to the Caribiane,I could not get to work for 3 days
