Anybody out there who played in the Sedgwick Little League? In 1961 we finished second in NYS losing 2-0 to Schnectaty. I played on Major #4 Crown Pizza was the sponsor which was on Tremont and University Ave.

Did Derrick Williams pitch? (may he rest in peace). Was Willie Bonella on your team? Was george or Perry your coach? Tryouts start early March this year at Harris field. Good luck
Derrick Williams passed away? When? What happened? Derrick was the best little league pitcher at time as he threw so hard. If he could have pitched everyday we wouldn't have lost a game. Meanwhile Bonilla was our best player a great hitter. He had 18 home runs during the summer tournment season. Bonilla pitched the 2-0 lost. I was friends with Derrick and his brother Alton who was my age. Derrick was a year older. Sorry to hear that he passed. Do you know anything about Alton?

I couldn't believe it either but I was told Derrick died of a drug overdose. Alton may be living on Barnes ave in the Bronx. Get ready for the Sedgwick LL parade in April. See you there.
Kenneth - Never answered. Yes, Perry Roman was the coach. What was George's last name as I don't remember him? See u at Harris Fields. (Although my try out was out Macombs Dam Park)

Just finished watching,"The Final Season" DVD and started to reminisce about my time playing baseball, so I decided to Google Sedgwick Little League to see what I would find. I definitely did not expect to see me or my late brothers name mentioned. Who are you guys (Sky Dog)? Kenneth Cohen sounds familiar. Some of your information is not correct but Iwelcome hearing from you.

I was on the team and started in left field the game before we lost in the championship. (Gene Cal) I'm sorry to hear about Derreck. My team sponsor was Bauhmol's and my teammate was Greg Sweet.

Hi Alton, Gene Calderon from Sedgwick little league days. I just found this site by accident. I was looking through some old pictures with my daughter and found some pictures from the '61 team. Great memories from the summer of '61. Gene
If I recall correctly there was only 4 major league teams. Major 1 had yellow/gold uniforms, Major 2 had red, Major 3 had blue and Major 4 (which I was on) had black.

Robin Conway here. I played for Sedgwick Little Leauge from 1961- 1963. They added more teams because more kids wanted to play. My uniform color was orange. A TV repair shop were our sponsers. An old friend of mine was on major 4,Bobby Riorden who lived in the same project as I did. My best friend Alex Tomarelli, cant remember the team he played for, was an all star in 1961 and played on the team that won the city that year.
Robin Conway here. If Im not mistaken it was major 1 blue major 2 red major 3 green and major 4 black. It was a long time ago, I'm a grandfather what do I now. Take care.
Robin - Alex was probably my best friend from grades 8-11 before he went to Vietnam. I remember we hung out together a bit with Alex. Unfortunately he is no longer with us. I also remember playing ball with you in the projects and at PS109.
