Did anyone watch the game last night? The Giants played with alot of heart and as usual
came up on the short end of the stick but as a life long fan I enjoyed the effort they
put forth. Anyone have memories of them when they played at the stadium?

My mother knew Tim Mara. The teams founder. We had tickets for years. They should not have left NY. They had great teams in the 50's

I used to watch NY Yankee football games in the stadium. One of the reasons the Giants had great teams in the '50s was that they were allowed to rape the Yankees, as a condition for the Yankees getting into the NFL (and shipping off to Dallas so that the Giants could keep their monopoly in New York). The Giants picked up Otto Schnelbacher(sp?) and Arnie Weinmeister from the Yankees, two of the better linemen in the game, among others I guess. I was a little young for keeping track of such things. But, other Yankees that I remember are Buddy Young, George Taliaferro, Harvey Johnson and (I think) George Ratterman and/or Bobby Layne. Any Yankee football fans out there? Can you trace the history of teams like the Brooklyn Dodgers, Boston Bees, Cleveland Rams. I think the Yankees played one year in Dallas (they were awful) and came back north as the Baltimore Colts.

And, on a similar subject...anyone remember the Philadelphia Warriors, Ft. Wayne Zollner Pistons, Rochester Royals, Syracuse Nats, Tri-Cities Blackhawks, Providence Steamrollers. Chicago also had a franchise, but I can't for the life of me remember the team name. Max Zaslofsky played for them. He later became a Knick. Does anyone remember the Indianapolis Olympians? Sherm White? Gene Melchiore?

I saw one Giants game at the stadium in the 60's. All I can remember was Homer Jones caught a touchdown pass.

They payed New England tough and looked like a playoff team. ALthough I am a Colts fan first, I do root for the Giants next.

Wow I never knew there was a Yankee football team. I knew Landry and Lombardi were ass't
coachs on the Giants. The first Giant team I remember was Connerley, Webster, Gifford, Rote, Summerall, Moghleski, Katcavich, Robestielli, Grier,Huff, Lynch and Patton.
Sorry for the spelling. When I got out of the service in '68 I worked for MSG for five
years. Red Holtzman was a Syracuse National, he showed me the team picture because I
didn't believe he played pro ball.

You're lucky Gibby. That was a great Giant team you started out with. I rooted for the Rams, so until this day I get as much satisfaction (well maybe almost as much) from seeing the Giants lose as the Rams win.
