I don't pretend to know more about baswball than Joe Girardi but I have to question some of his decisions. Why wasn't Johnny Damon playing last night? Let him DH - after all he's leading the league in hitting. Girardi did this with Matsui earlier in the year while he was among the league leaders in hitting he sat him for a couple of games in a row. This Chirstenson might be fast but you can't steal first base. My outfield would be Nady, Damon and Abreau (left to right) as it doesn't seem that Melky can hit - he's a very good defensive centerfielder but no offense.

Why is Jeter consistantly going after the first pitch?

Look at all the well pitched games that they've lost recently.

I'm so disgusted that I turned off last nights game in the 7th - something I rarely do.

I'm not a fair weather fan, but, I must admit I am getting a litle discouraged. Sidney Ponson pitched a great game last night and received no offensive support from the bats.

Mike, did you ever get any info on whether they will be selling parts of the stadium when its all over...... I'd love to get a seat from the right-field grandstand where Mick hit a few "Ballantine Blasts"....

Damon played last night - second pitch - HOME RUN!

I pay to get the Direct TV balball package so that I can get almost all of the Yankee games. I can't get most of the games that they play against Tampa. For some strange reason they consider us, on Florida's east coast, part of the Rays home area. They blackout the games even though they're not on free or cable TV on this side of Florida. Were in the Marlins home territory - we get their games.

Don't feel bad, I subscribe to the MLB Package thru COMCAST. I get all the Yankee games except when they play Tampa or the Marlins (inter league). I understand the reasoning with blacking out HOME games here in Florida, but, when the Rays are at Yankee Stadium, there is no reason for the blackout in my opinion.

getting off soapbox now!

I have it even worse. I live in CT, and I'm stuck with the YES network (It Sucks.) And for this privilege? I'am dunned an extra 2 bucks a month;like it or not!

I have called the management of Comcast (which also sucks,) the managment of NESN., and even the Sox owners, all to no avail.

Get Direct TV and the baseball package. You can get it from COMCAST too. Sometimes you have to suck-it up and pay the extra $$$. I had Dirct TV in NY because I couldn't stand Cablevision. The year after I went to Direct TV, Cablevision refused to carry the Yankee games. Sattelite dishes then started growing like weeds in my neighborhood on LI because of it.

The top price for one yankee ticket for one game next year is $2500. They do give you a soft drink of your choice. You cant get those tickets they are sold out. something is very wrong. Tampa is the first place team. It only has a fraction of the payrolln of the yanks

Good one Duke. Donald Trump always brings his kids. The most expensive seats when I was a kid was $4.50. With infletion that should be about $90 today. I forgot the free soda that must makeup the difference.

Well, I'm 61 and I remember the Bleachers being 75 cents, and the Grandstand General Admission part being $1.25. Of course, ANY decent died-in-the-wool Bronx boy would sneak down to the Field Boxes between games of those never-ending Sunday double-headers. I STILL get chill thinking about all of those Sundays I spent at the stadium, with the Mick, Yogi, Moose, Bobby, Whitey, Elston, Hector and Tony (I mention Roger only as a matter of history, I never thought of him as a TRUE Yankee). Oops, I almost forget to mention Casey. Memories like they dont make today. A World Series ring EVERY year, it seemed.

I'm almost 66 and remember those days like they were yesterday. I saw my first game (againt the Tigers) in 1949 when I was 7. The scorecards (programs) were a dime. And when they raised the price they gave you a second sheet for the second game of a doubleheader.

We always would get there for batting practice, I remember getting to the stadium at about 10AM for a doubleheader against the Indians in '54 as they expected a sellout crowd. Also sitting there from they late morning until 10PM for double bill against the Tigers because of rain delays.

I remember the first time that they lost a game that I went to. I wanted my money back - I felt cheated.

I also remember seeing those great players from other teams. Feller, Garcia, Lemon and Wynn pitching for the Tribe with Al Rosen at third, Jim Hegan catching, ViC Wertz. Larry Doby and Luke Easter in the outfield. Al Kaline and Harvey Kuenn of the Tigers and some of those great Boston players.

I guess that's where my love of baseball came from.

Wow, what memories Red. Could we EVER explain those days to a kid of today? We were BLESSED to be among those who saw such GREAT baseball in those days, AND have the Yanks win the WS about every year. I'm having a senior moment; which Tribe pitcher was beaned real bad by a line drive back to the mound in '54?

I also remember getting there for batting practice....Sunday was a real long day, but well spent in the Stadium!!

LOL Mike, while I was never a member of that club, there were lots of us who coulda been in it. I remember the onslaught of kids running down from the general admission grandstands to the field boxes while nobody was looking, or so we thought. I'd say it worked 50% of the time. I once even got a seat right behind the visiting dugout, and when the guy who did the seating saw me, he winked and let me stay there. Maybe he did the same thing when HE was a kid!!...lol

The pitcher was Herd Score and the batter was Gil McDougal and it was on May 7, 1957.

Just think how lucky we were to have three great teams playing in NY for all those years. Watching Willie Mays, Sal Maglie, Alvin Dark and Eddie Stanky play for the Giants. And all those Dodger greats. Boy how we hated the Dodgers but, now being more knowledgable, we can appreciate how good those players were.

I regret never getting to Ebbit's Field.

All these great names everybody's bringing up sure brings back the good old days of YANKEE BASEBALL. All this GREAT talent and NO STEROIDS. How could that be? They must have cheated in some other way ehhhhh. Not really!!!!They were the true baseball players then.
Moose Skowran, Gene Woodling, Bobby Murcer, Graig Nettles, Yogi, Chamblis, on and on and on.....
Baseball lost something when players found out they could stick themselves with a needle and increase their size and strength.
