It's great Listening to Vin Scully doing play by play...he is a relic..has to be over 80.

The 1st time I remember hearing Scully was about 1949 or 1950.

Dodgers beat the Rockies 3-0 Wed night. They are idle today.

The Dodger game is on ESPN national TV tonight.
They will probably be having a tribute for Jackie Robinson...here's a thought....if his widow is there for the occasion, it is very possible that she and Vin Scully will be the only ones around who actually saw him play his first game at Ebetts Field!

Mike Scully didn't start his broadcasting with the Dodgers till 1949 or 1950. He probably wasn't there that day.
Any way he's from The Bronx.

Barry, I didn't know Vin was a Bronx boy..what neighborhood?....did you ever go out to Ebetts?

Joined Red Barber in the broadcast booth in 1950.

A little research Scully was born in The Bronx. Grew up in Washinton Heights. Went to Fordham University.
Was a Ebbets Field twice. It was a long subway ride.
