First of all you shold listen to your wife she sould like she is a lovely smart caring person.. now that being said we agree on some points but not on all - remember all these small payroll teams had a chance to vote on how much was to be spent on players and the small teams out number the big pay teams by more then 3 to 1...... they don't pay for there home fields but make money from parking - food - drinks - tickets - memborbila - tv games - and any place the team logo is - know kidding you beleave they all are making big big money - the only differents between Steinbrenner and the rest of them is Steinbrenner is giving covering all the bases by giving everyone what they want your white gives you the best white player your black gives you the best black player your a jew the best jew player your catholic - spanish - greek - gives you the best player of that group and for doing that he wants to be paid......and the fans pay..... i live here in florida 7 years now l beleave had about 3 or 4 new owners and they all said were going to put some money into this team and as seat sales go up will spend more.. well the fans got tickets for the first month and once again all they did was sell the better players and got rookies and said were going to invest in a young team to bring uo togetter (( cool ) well the next year people got tickets and they did the same thing sold the good players and replace them with less paid players and the only money they spent was on a coach- a coach is good but there need players even ones on there way out --- do you know tickets are 12 dollars and that comes with free parking and a hot dod and a coke - and they can't even fill 1/6 of the place but when the yankee's come mone then 2/3 full no parking no hot dog or coke and the price is the same as if you went to see the yank's at home.....do you have a favorite actor do you think they are worth 25 millon a picture or that every time they make a picture they are going to win a oscar ---- of cause not -- but why are they paid that (( people want to see them ))you also forget reds sox - mets - braves - and a few other pay roll are going up -- and then when they win they sell off there players - then complain yankee's this and yankee's that ... everyone needs some one to hate and the yankee;s are that team -- but they still make more money with them then with out them..

I agree totally with you ( and by the way my wife is a smart person and I do listen to her for the most part.)I also live in Florida, but can't get to any games because of location and it ****es me off that I can't even see the great American past time without paying out the ass for it on cable.We are also hockey fans and between paying for the hockey package and paying for the MLB package It would cost us about $300.00 bucks .Now that is ridiculous. We have chosen to watch hockey instead of both,because even in florida it gets cold in the winter and the days are shorter so we are indoors more. In the summer there is always something to do with the horses and the days are longer.

The MLB Package costs $149.00 every year for the entire season. Die Hard Yankee fan from way back when bleacher seats behind the "Mick" were 50 cents!

but not all cable companys offer the sports Package -- in springhill florida they did then they didn't now some do -- dish does not.. so l have to wait untill my time with dish is up.
