The Yankees are the Al East Champs...Hopefully both New York teams will survive to meet each other in the Fall Classic

Hey Mike,
Did you watch last night's game? The play that Robbie Cano made to save a run late in the game was fabulous! On the run to his backhand for a ball that was absolutely crushed, he scoops it and makes a perfect flip to Cairo for the inning-ending force. That kid is the best-fielding second baseman I've ever seen, and there have been some great ones that came down the pike in my 60+ years of watching the game. And he's another Rod Carew with the bat! They better hang onto him. It'll be the Tigers or the Twins for the Yanks. I think I prefer the Tigers. What's your preference? |

You are so right about Robbie Canoe...they need to sign him to a life contract like Derek Jeter has....I think I prefer to tangle with the Tigers....I been watching the Twins play Boston for the last 3 nights and their bat rack is on fire!!

Yesterday I picked up a copy of the latest Sports Illustrated with the article about ARod. Get a look at that if you can. The writer, Tom Verducci, is one of the best of the SI people. I'm wondering how he got some of the detail he reported. In any case, ARod better have a good post-season, or he's toast as far as Yankee fans are concerned. I've watched about 95% of the games, and good numbers notwithstanding, he never seemed to make the big hit, or the big play in the field. He did his thing when the game was either a definite win or a for sure loss. Derek Jeter, on the other hand, ... well, I don't need to go further than that.

From what I understand..a lot of A-Rod's problems are in his head....He's letting the NY fans get to him...Giambi allegedly told Joe Torre to stop "coddling him". I guess Jason remembers his troubles from early last season.

I know, But the Sox gave it a good run...they will be right back in the thick of it in 07!

I wonder if the Sox are going to finish third. Toronto is playing a lot harder than they are. I also wonder about whether Theo Epstein can survive this awful (but typical) collapse. I guess you're all familiar with the suggestion that the Red Sox become the first major league team in the Phillipines. They can be called "The Manila Folders!" (Rim Shot) (Sorry)

Hey Mike,
I had to miss the game last night due to a long standing dinner date with friends, but I caught the highlights on YES at about 11:40. Was Jeter awesome? Wow! My wife and I have to attend a lecture this evening, but I should be home shortly after 8 PM. Go Yankees!! Pete |

Anybody watching the Yankee game???? I'm not believing this...Kenny Rogers??....Johnson pitched well for six despite the herniated disk....no offensive support tonight.

Hi Mike and Other Yankee Fans,
I'm posting this about half an hour before game time. I fervently hope I'm wrong, but I'm very much afraid that our Yankees are about to make an early and ignominious exit. I was not surprised at the Unit's performance, (it just about matched his ERA) but it wouldn't have mattered, even if he only gave up one run. Rogers was awesome. A-Rod was S-Rod as usual. Unless he personally sees to a win this afternoon, he is B-Rod (B for 'Bye) as far as I'm concerned. I watched virtually every game this season, and I didn't see any game changing hits or plays in the field ala Jeter or Bernie. Just a lot of air, from all the Ks! If they get outed in the first round again, I think the Boss will make some significant noise, but I'm still hoping. Go Yankees. Pete |

This is really sad Pete, the best record in MLB for the season and ....the last 2 days they don't even show up to play!!
