I say the Islanders will go farther than the blue shirts, only because we have younger legs.If we can eliminate some of the man hours lost to injury we'll do fine for a young club.

If you are asking about our allegiances in general, I would have to say Rangers all the way for several reasons:
1) The History of the Rangers as a founding team in the NHL
2) The love that the blue-collar man from the outer-boroughs has historically had for the Rangers
3) The years (1970's) when the Rangers and Flyers had those remarkable games/fights, and, as a bonus, when you saw the Flyer's send out Dave Schultz onto the ice, you KNEW he was out to take a head, not play hockey. The electricity from those games still courses in my veins when I think of Schultz and the Flyers, with their black uniforms and all. And when the Rangers had the players that we LOVED including Ron Greschner, Espo, Duguay, Giacomon.

Where love rules, there is no will to power, and where power predominates, love is lacking. The one is the shadow of the other.

I also grew up a Ranger fan and remember the blueshirts playing the broadstreet bullies. Then I got married and moved to the Island and along came the Islanders. They also gave the broadstreet bullies a good fight.Clark Gilles and dave shultz had a couple of go arounds. Then came the 4 cups and i was hooked.Nowadays it kind of hurts, but thats life as they say. We'll be back soon.
