They had a truck like this in the James Monroe Projects near the park on Taylor and Story Ave. This was in the early 90's but one day he disappeared in the late 90's. You could buy all kinds of candy and "bomb bags". This was back when a lot of the neighborhood was vacant lots and the closest bodega was the 24/hour on Soundview Ave and Story surrounded by drug dealers.

The Beach Ave guy I do not remember, Beach Ave in Bronxdale projects isn't the greatest place for kids to be playing and eating candy.

MY GRANDPARENTS AND UNCLE LIVED NEAR STORY AND TAYLOR AVE. I MOVED OUT OF BRONXDALE IN 1970.
I DO NOT REMEMBER THE STORY AVE. TRUCK.

WHEN I LIVED IN BRONXDALE THE CANDY WAS SAFE AND CHILDREN COULD PLAY OUTDOORS.
IT IS A SHAME TO HEAR THIS NOW.
HAVE A GREAT DAY.

That Taylor/Story Ave truck was from the early and mid 90's era.

I never even noticed it being gone until I read this thread. Never crossed my mind.

I never remembered the Taylor/Story Ave. truck.
I had moved by then.

I also did not think about the hot dog/snack trucks either until this website. Great memories.

I grew up on Evergreen between Westchester and Watson in the 50's and 60's.

Where exactly are the Monroe Projects? I can't even remember if they were there when I went to Monroe and graduated in 1964.
