...who ate in nathan's and gorman's and white castle and pizza parlors and other goyish restaurants are going to hell.

Rebbe, I will go with my first reaction, and assume you are just fooling around....lol (NOT)
Does that also include those in Monsey, NY who ate unkosher chickens?
udb (you don't mind if i call you udb, do you?), if you accepted the jewish faith by act of bar mitzvah, you are required to live by the laws of moses. i'll ask around and see if there is any way to keep you from going to hell, but i wouldn't be too optimistic if i were you. |

my response to you is being reviewed by admin, as is my subsequent post telling you that my response is being reviewed by admin. |

it's not like i am ignoring your post, as you might see if any of my responses make it past admin. |

udb, i responded to your post and it is being reviewed by admin. i sent you another post, informing you of that and it too is being reviewed by admin. yes, you guessed it, a third as well.

flatfoot, please elaborate. did they knowingly eat unkosher chickens? do they do it regularly? without this information, it is difficult for me to respond in a meaningful manner. let me make an assumption. my sixth sense tells me that you are more of a secular jew than a religious one, and that for some reason you are not crazy about the orthodox jews who live and practice their faith in relative isolation and obscurity in monsey. i think they have a different relationship with god than you do. for one thing they talk to him more often and make like he has a central role in their lives. now, if they flagrantly flaunted the laws of kashruth, they will probably go to hell also. but, if it's a choice between them and the jewish kids who casually discarded the faith to enjoy trayf and avoid the inconveniences of following the proscriptions of the faith, what do you think he'll do? |

flatfoot, i responded to your post also, at 4:27 pm, same day.

Say your penitential prayers. It sounds like you're in big trouble. I'll say a bracha for you.

"Rebbe" You are doing ALOT of talking for God here.....where exactly in the Pentateuch does it say that Jews who eat non-kosher foods will go to hell???? Don't point out to me the 971 other man-made rules, forms and regulations, please. In fact, you cant even really point to a verse that explicitly even deals with hell in the Old Testament, only by interpretation can you even state that a hell (not Sheol) even exists. You must know that Sheol was only a burial ground, that became reinterpreted as hell in the OLD Testament.
So, where did Moses mention Hell as a place for sinners?????? Just tell me where YOU get off determining who will go to Hell and who will not?? And, don't forget to include those verses in the Pentateuch that state what I asked above. |

Rebbe, I'm surprised you don't know the Monsey chicken story. The rabbi being paid for supervision of a kosher store collected his fees and did none of the supervision. The butcher sold non-kosher chickens out of a box marked kosher. When it was discovered, nothing happened to the rabbi, the butcher left town and the chief rabbi told the public to fast for a day in repentance and to bring in their pots to be koshered for a fee. I lived in Monsey for a number of years and know the religious community there and the community of New square intimately.(Interpret that any way you choose.)

Who are you???? Who made you God???? Just MYOB. What I do has no effect on you. I'm an adult and responsible for my own actions. I believe "do unto others as you would have others do unto you". My father shoved religion down my throat and it made rebel. After my mother's death he married a very frum women. I found that many of these religious people are hypocrites and bigots. Just do't get me started about religious zelots. Grow Old But Never Grow-Up and No Tan Lines |

And, by the way,"Rebbe", I think your remark about "goyish" foods was in very poor taste...

uh_da_bronx is not even a name. shlomo is a name or moshe or dov. also you obviously have no respect for men of the cloth so why should i even discuss this with you. are you a fundamentalist, my little scholar, that you don't think it's necessary to observe the codes of behavior that have been passed down from generation to generation over hundreds or thousands of years. this is not an internet version of dear abbie. if you need rabbinical interpretations of hell or kashruth or metaphysics consult your own rabbi. i can tell you are on very shaky ground regarding the afterlife. |

i didn't know the monsey chicken story, but i was right wasn't i? nobody knowingly ate unkosher chicken did they? how much did the rabbi charge to make kosher their pots? did they obtain competitive bids, because i'm sure i could have given them a better price. do you know about the riots on the lower east side in the mid-thirties? a kosher chicken store candled eggs and set aside those with blood spots (unkosher) for subsequent resale to a kosher bakery. when word got out people took to the streets and rioted. i don't know if any harm came to the man from the chicken store, but i'm sure things were testy for awhile. |
why is that? do you have negative associations with the word goy? it means non-jewish to me. what does it mean to you? |
ah, another lost sheep. was it more important to play with your friends than go to shul? |
