Well, "Rebbe", I havent seen that post....I assume you apologized, AND clarified what the word means so that those who do not know Yiddish would at least know what you are apologizing for.........a very degrading word

udb, please look at my post of 1:52 pm. admin is breaking the rhythm of the board, but i guess they would rather be safe than sorry. i am surprised by your opinion that the word goy is degrading. perhaps you could enlighten us as to what it is in your personal history that makes you feel that way. to me the word means non-jewish. the "shabbos goy" was a non-jew who provided a courtesy to his jewish neighbors by turning the lights on and off in jewish homes during the sabbath. pete hamill refers to himself with considerable pride as a shabbos goy in his wonderful memoir "snow in august." there was a wonderful story i heard a few years back of a jewish community in brooklyn that befriended a young italian boy and supported him with mail and gifts during his service overseas during ww2. i think he became a teacher and referred to himself as their shabbos goy in his own memoir. unfortunately his name escapes me at the moment.

Perhaps it's the context it is used, and not the actual word itself. There are MANY examples of this.

Who are you???? Who made you God???? Just MYOB. What I do has no effect on you. I'm an adult and responsible for my own actions. I believe "do unto others as you would have others do unto you".

My father shoved religion down my throat and it made rebel. After my mother's death he married a very frum women. I found that many of these religious people are hypocrites and bigots.

Just do't get me started about religious zelots.

ah, another lost sheep. was it more important to play with your friends than go to shul?

I might be a lost sheep but I MYOB. What business is it of yours what I do????? Just keep your nose out of my a**!!!!!!

You see, "Rebbe", saying that some people are going to h ell isnt a very sensitive thing to do. First, even if it WAS true that there was some doctrine stated in the Old Testament by Moses (as YOU said there was), it STILL isnt you prerogative to point fingers at anybody. Remember, when you point one finger at another person, you are pointing THREE back at yourself. Second, there ISN'T anything said in the Books of the Law (The first five books of the Old Testament, credited to Moses as the author) about h ell, or or sin resulting in a person going there, as you stated there was. Finally, the reality of whether there is a hell, as far as I am concerned, should have been given to a person by divine inspiration. Having that belief "passed down for hundreds of years" starting with Rebbes, as you say, doesnt mean that it is true. Oral History is wrought with errors, whether believed by the people or not. So some Rebbes stating that they believe in h ell does NOT mean that they were inspired by God to make such an assertion.

And, more important, people do NOT want to hear from a person, over the internet, who they don't even know that, they may be doomed.....people are offended by that type of insensitivity...maybe a good book, such as "How to Win Friends and Influence People" should be next on your reading list.

you don't sound like an adult. you speak to a rebbe just like a petulant child would. your conflicts are unresolved. you are certainly going to hell.

Sal and Doms is kosher. Rebbezvi this is just a light-hearted board. No one wants to hear that kind of talk.
