When I was a kid I remember the Golf Cafe on the corner of Gun Hill and Jerome. Pretty good food and good thin crust pizza too. Those were the days when you could get a pie for 2 bucks and a large for 3.

Does anyone remember a pizzeria/restaurant over in the Belmont section? You could order at the window, but they also had a door next to the window. You could go in the door, walk down a little way and it opened into a space behind the "pizza window" section that you could not see from the street window. Back there they had tables and you could order a meal - whichever kind of pasta you wanted with it - the food was so good. Can't remember the name of it but if anyone knows if it's still there I'd love to take my granddaughter.

There's a new Italian restaurant called TINY'S on the NW corner of Grant and 166th St (near my apartment.) Everyone says it's great; I am gonna go try it tonight.

dbob, I don't know about the restaurants, however, I have spoken to some Bronxites on another board who never left the old nabe and they say it is still a good area to live in.

The only thing on 161st across from the courthouse is Joyce Kilmer park. If you go down a block more there were pizza places but no Italian Resurants. You had to go to Courtland AVE to get an Italian resurant. Alex and Henrey was there. That place was famouse.
