I think there were 2 that I know of. Nicks pizza on Gun Hill Road near the Dyer ave. train station and Tonys (Ginos )pizza on Jerome Ave near Gun hill road.

Had lots of friends on 187th st and Arthur ave in early sixties. went to all the feasts and loved all the Italian specialty stores.Used to go to soccer games I think the teams were Milano and FordhamItalians

Yvonne, I've heard the lines go down the sidewalk on weekend nights waiting to get in..a little side story..back in the early 90's, John's brother Peter tried to do the same type of operation here in Port Charlotte, FL. It was actually quite successful for 3 or 4 years and then the building rents down here sky rocketed and that was the end of John's Brick Oven Pizza (South)

We have a family here that came from the city and have 2 locations in the area....Bella Napoli...not bad..closest I have tasted since leaving the HOMELAND!

Yes I believe on Bronxdale. Was nt the pizza great so was the food.

RichieB, Thanks for the memory. The Pines was the first Italian restaurant my husband had ever been to. My Dad would take us there for special occasions so it seemed the place to go with my new boyfriend.

Richie, I agree. The Pizza at Pine was terrific. I went there as a teen. A little later I went to Tom's in the Throggs Neck section. That was unbelievable. But, in the whole city, I have to agree with Yvonne. John's on Bleecker has to be the best. Unfortunately, it was closed down a couple of weeks ago because of rats. I'm sure it will reopen, but there'll be a lot of nervous customers.
