Does anyone remember the name of a 24 hour cafeteria located near Yankee Stadium in the mid 1950's?

They had amazing food and some of the ball players would frequent it.

Mike, thank you for the information. The Stadium Restaurant was the name of the place. I just could not remember the name.

I frequented this restaurant with my late husband. We would even go there during the week, and get there around 10:30 - 11:00 p.m.

When my parents came in from Boston, I would pick up my father's brother who lived in New York and we always went there on a Friday night around 11:00 p.m., and stayed until 3:00 a.m. in the morning. The food was excellent and you could order about anything you wanted.

My parents and my father's brother could not get over this fabulous restaurant and could not believe the people coming in around 12:00 midnight. What a place! Loved it!

One of the managers was telling my dad that they had to have about (5) managers to run this 24 hour restaurant. It was run so well!

I was telling my daughter about the Bronx. I married a New Yorker and my late husband took me everywhere. He just loved New York and lived it!!

If you have any interesting stories I would love to hear back.

Cynthia

Mike:

Did you frequent the Stadium Restaurant? What did you think of it? You did not reply.

I saw so many famous baseball players and many other famous show people in the business. It was a great hangout in the 1950s.

I was wandering if you ever went to Jahn's ice cream parlor. The lines were out the door. What a place.

Did you ever eat a the famous Six Brothers' Restaurant in Pelham Parkway, Bronx? The lines were out the door at this restaurant. The food was was excellent. People that moved out of this neighborhood came back every weekend to eat at this fabulous restaurant.

Thank you for responding, I appreciate this.

Cynthia

P.S. Do you still live in the Bronx?

Having attended numerous ballgames at the Stadium, I walked by it frequently, never ate there. I am from the Fordham area and yes, Jahn's on Kingsbridge and Krums on the GC were always great as were most of the eating establishments up and down Fordham Road. I was a big fan of GORMAN'S Hot Dogs. Unfortunately, I do not live in the Bronx at the present time. I hope to return to the area when I retire in a few years
