Does anyone remember the little store across the street from JHS 45 which sold fantastic hero sandwiches made on skinny Italian bread? Three things made these sandwiches unforgettable... the thin strips of pickles on top, the great deli mustard and the most incredible tuna. The tuna salad was almost orange in color because it had little shreds of carrot. It was so delicious and unique. I've never tasted anything like it since. The store was bare except for a refrigerator and an old kitchen table used as a counter. I think the woman who ran the shop was named Vita or Veeda? I would love to hear from anyone else who shares this wonderful memory.
