Dear Members,

We're in the process of doing some renovations to the BackInTheBronx.com Bulletin Board.

In upcoming weeks, you'll see some design changes, new forum topics, and a Terms of Service policy, which is reprinted below.

Please bear with us, as we strive to make this forum an enjoyable place for all.

TERMS OF SERVICE

Thank you for being a part of BackInTheBronx.com, and sharing your memories with us on our bulletin board. We hope you will continue to reminisce with us, as memories of the Bronx are as precious to us as they are to you.

Unfortunately, a few bad apples have found their way into our barrel. Some posters have used the boards to go beyond good-spirited debate, and have been more inflammatory than we can permit.

We have decided to begin moderating the board, in order to foster a more pleasant atmosphere for all. All posts will be now held until our moderator can screen them. We expect posts to be added on a timely basis.

To facilitate successful posts, we ask you to observe the following rules:

1) Please stay on topic. This board is for Bronx-related topics ONLY. If you want to suggest a new forum, you may e-mail info@backinthebronx.com with your idea. Off-topic posts, or tangents which stray too far, may be deleted or moved, at the moderator's discretion.

2) We don't want to censor legitimate disagreements. We're Bronxites. We like a good-spirited debate more than any other people on the planet. But, please choose your words carefully. Any posts our moderator deems derogatory or inflammatory WILL be deleted, and the poster's membership may be rescinded.

3) Have fun. If you love the Bronx, we love you (Even if you've never bounced a Spaldeen.)

This policy will also be posted to the bulletin board's Terms of Service. Questions or comments regarding this policy may be directed to info@backinthebrox.com. We apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause, but keeping BackInTheBronx.com a safe, friendly place is our first priority.

Again, thank you for sharing your lives with us. We wish you a happy, healthy summer.

Steve Samtur, and everyone at BackInTheBronx.com

ALTHOUGH I UNDERSTAND WHY YOU HAD TO DO WHAT YOU DID, BUT THIS NEW IDEA WILL NOT MAKE SENSE IF A POST IS DELAYED ANY LENGHT OF TIME. THERE HAS GOT TO BE A BETTER WAY. I THINK YOU WILL LOSE MANY OF THE POSTERS.

I agree with Norie. There is such as thing as too much moderation. Part of the appeal of this board is the fact that you can have a discussion almost live at times.
How many posts can a moderator read in a day?

{NOTE from Admin: A better system is on the way! Bear with us for a few days...}

Well....lol

If all we are going to talk about is Pizza, Lemon Ice and Spaldeens, I doubt that there will be many "disagreements" to moderate, lol.....

In all fairness I must say when I first joined the boards, there weren't but a few posts a WEEK.

Ever since we got on current issues and debates, the place lit up like a wildfire. There's only so much "Bronx" you can talk about, but I still come here, because there are other people that I feel connected to having been brought up in the same wonderful borough of the greatest city in the US.

That reason alone is enough to make me come on here and chit chat with other former and current Bronxites.

It can still be all about the Bronx, even though we may not be talking about egg creams.

Please do not withhold the posts until a later time. It will ruin the whole momentum of the board and will frustrate many posters if they are unable to read what they have just posted.

Too much time and energy will be wasted by you's guys trying to keep everyone in line, just like the nuns did when we were in school.

Can't we just report anything out of line, as we did before? Seems unfair that the few bad apples now have the whole bunch turning rotten.

Thank you.

We're gonna give it one more shot, Laura. As long as everyone plays nice, I'm gonna let the Honor System have a crack at it. Unfortunately, I predict I'll have to bounce at least one or two before the weekend is out! Happy 4th! --Rob
