FYI: The only censorship I have done, since taking over these boards, is to replace a few letters in ONE "F" word with asterisks.

When you see "Edited by ADMIN" at the bottom of a post, it's because I have chosen to reply to you within the body of the post, as opposed to a separate post.

This software allows you, as users, to edit your own posts as well. In cruising through the control panel, I saw the "grace period" set at 10 minutes, which means, that if you want to add a thought, or correct a misspelling, you can go back and edit it yourself within 10 minutes. You would then see "Edited by YOURNAME" at the bottom. If this feature is not yet currently available to you, I will add that to my agenda.

I've told you all before, I've only been here 3 days, and am starting from scratch. As of right now, I plan to sell Steve on the compromise idea of making the GENERAL INTEREST forum a catch-all for NON-Bronx topics, and letting people say whatever they want UNTIL SOMEBODY REPORTS A VALID ABUSE.

I hope this answers your concerns. --Rob

That sounds like a fair compromise, one that we can all live with. I'm game.

What do we see when you totally remove a post???

Actually, Frank, I deleted two of your posts last night. The one about Italians was IMHO slightly humorous, but we're not letting any nationalities get slammed, even your own. (And, before you ask, the minute someone reports a complaint about the war posts, I'm gonna have a lot of work to do. For now, though, I'm letting y'all vent.)

Your other post descended into a personal attack against another member of this community. That's no longer allowed here. (Rule of thumb: You can call my opinion stupid, but you can't call me stupid.)

When Paula left this board, and asked that her posts be deleted, we all learned (at the same time) that this function also deleted any replies to topics she started.

Last night was the first time I deleted posts from within the "approval queue." I assumed that you would then see "DELETED BY ADMIN" or some such (as seen on other boards), but, if you didn't, then this software must just vanish the entire thing with no trace. If I'd known that, I'd've gone in manually, and deleted the text.

If I go in manually to edit a post, I use red text, and explain myself. Other than that, the auto-censor is asterisking certain words, and, other than bouncing one member, that's all the censorship I've had to do.

I hope this answers your concerns.
