Hi, my name is Debbie. I grew up on Husson Avenue in Clason point, with my two sisters Denise and gina. We moved there when I was nine years old, in 1974. Looking to chat with my old friends. I went to Holy Cross, then to St. Helena, then to Stevenson HS.
hey debbie i went to stevenson around that time along with my now wife Issa Vazquez she has a sister named annie or anette she would have grauateded in 75 oh and by the way my name is edgar from monroe projects on story ave!
Hey Edgar, my husband Mike Z. grew up in monroe projects, on story avenue. His brothers are Richie and ralph and he has three sisters. They no longer live there though.
My sister denise and I used to hang out in the clason point houses when we were teenagers, around 1980, 81. We knew the morales family, Chickie, ivan, anthony, jerry, etc. They were a very big family. I also knew a Michael Nulligan, he had three other brothers, Timothy, kevin were two of them, and a sister named maureen.
Also, the area where I grew up is also know as clason point. When I mention this lots of people think I mean clason point houses. It is located near harding park, and what used to be shorehaven pool.
I went to Shorehaven. If I recall, it had the only sal****er pool in the Bronx. The owner was Dr. Goldstein (??). I still have very fond memories of spending several summers there, including the handball courts, tennis courts, cafeteria, and TWO pools, one sal****er, one fresh water. The sal****er pool had a huge diving board. I also remember shows that they held in on a large stage, and taking the BX27 bus there, which I got at Soundview and Westchestere after getting there with the Bx 42 from Evergreen, only about six or so stops away. What a great time to be a kid in Du Bronx!!

Yep, it was great. It was so beautiful there. I really have great memories as a kid. It was almost like another city that not that many people knew about. Everyone who lived around there or visited were decent respectful people. Shorehaven was great, my dad and uncle grew up with the owners. I would just go there and mention my dad and uncles name and we would get in free. They did have shows there. I remember seeing joan rivers.
Debbie, may I ask where in the Bronx you grew up? And was the Shorehaven owner's name Dr. Goldstein?? I have fond memories of taking the Bx 42 to Soundview and Westchester, and getting the Bx 27, which stopped at the front door of Shorehaven.. You are right, it was a true haven, right in the Bronx, that few knew about.
