I have seen a change in certain areas of the Bronx in the last 10 years or so.

My question is, where have all of the riff raff gone during this new era ??

Are they still there ? Are they acting like normal citizens or what ?

They didnt just pack up and skip town, did they ?

Just my opinion:

More and more people moved into New York City (after years of decline the pop. of NYC has steadily increased since 1990). This has driven up property values in all 5 boros and has "displaced" many shiftless people... they are moving to the 'burbs and places "upstate".

The population of NYC is supposed to go up by almost 1 million by 2010... where are these people going to live? In places that have nice housing stock and are close to midtown jobs... answer: the Bronx.

My friend who lives in Kingston NY (about 90 miles north of Bronx) says that the "Daily Crime Blotter" in the local newspaper lists many criminals who were arrested as having Bronx addresses. All the non-working people are moving out of New York City since prices are skyrocketing.

A quote I heard from one dubious person who moved upsate: "My check last longer up here".

Kingston is already a mess. Soon places like Utica, Albany, and the surrounding areas will become the new ghettos and American cities (like the Bronx) will be uber-repopulated with career-people who enjoy the "life" one gets from living in a city and in places like Brooklyn & the Bronx that are beautiful and close to all the major things NYC has to offer.

Hi all....

Spring is (finally! Smiler) in the air here in the Bronx! The garden in front of the Andrew Freeman Home on the Concourse is blooming; as are the flowers around the Loreli Fountain in Joyce Kilmer Park.

Hi Laura,

Yes, it was 73 F over the weekend! Today is 60's and sunny.

I wanted to spend Sunday on our terrace but I had to go to a party in Jersey City... so instead I spent Sunday on their terrace while our place at Executive Towers sat empty! Roll Eyes

And the Yankee crowds are here... makes things very lively on 161 ST!
