It is INCREDIBLE!!. i work one half mile in Rockland County from the Henry Kaufman Campgrounds where we went each day of every summer as daycampers.

Wait.... what about the Y on Concourse and 166th?
I live on the Concourse at 165th... I walk by the old Y everyday to/from the IND subway stairs on McClellan and Concourse. Michael |

I must have known alot from that area. I went to JHS 22 which is just two blocks away

The kids who went there after school and for day camp continued as teenagers going to the dances and different activities. In fact, I remember the same counselors worked there when I was nine
until I was 15 when I stopped going. I wonder when it closed its doors. I lived in Albany for many years, and the JCC there serves the same function as the Y. I now live in Beacon, and there is no such place. It's too ba because the Jewish kids have to travel 30 min. to Poughkeepsie to have the same kind of experience, and to feel a sense of their culture. |
