WOW,

What memories! I lived on Evergreen between Weschester and Watson (1160) and clearly remember those places you all listed, and some others closer to Evergreen, including Jack the Kandy King (Elder and Westchester), the Y&S Pharmacy, my father owned Monroe Billiards (on Westchester between Wheeler and Evergreen, the Manufacturers Hanover Bank(Westchester and Boynton) of course the Ward Theater, and the Deli catty-corner from it on the other side of Westchester, and how could I forget Luigis (Westchester and Wheeler, the best pizza in the Milky Way!! I went to PS 93 from 51-56, 123 from 56-59 ande Monroe From 60-64. Please write. I would LOVE to hear from you all, and bring back such WONDERFUL memories.

Maybe we can play some stickball, and hit a couple of three-sewer shots!

PS

That Bungalow Bar guy...on Evergreen his name was Christie, and I can STILL see his face....only to be taken over by those Mister Frostee guys, with that terrible tape recorded music, but, admittedly, pretty custard. They always seemed to disrupt our after school stick-ball,punch ballgame or johnny-on-the pony games..lol

I lived on Evergreen, between Westchester and Watson, went to PS93 (51-56), JHS 123 (56-59) and Monroe (60-64), and my dad owned the OTHER pool room (Monroe Billiards) on Westchester, between Evergreen and Wheeler. I remember Jack the Kandy King on Westchester and Elder, the Deli on Boynton and Westchester, the Ward Theatre, Sammy the Fish Man (Wheeler and Westchester),the Y&S Pharmacy, and of course, Young Israel. Looking for friends from Evergreen of the schoools I went to. I also remember lotsa names from the area and school, if you want to talk.

If you got as far east as the Y&S and Young Israel, did you buy your clothes at Manly's, your jewelry at Freilichs, your school supplies at Teddy's and your shoes at Thom McCann?

I grew up on Eevergreen, between Westchester and Watson, went to PS 93 (51-56), JHS 123 (57-59) and Monroe (60-64). I have so mant great memories of the area, especially of Weschester between Evergreen and Soundview, all the stores, etc. Does anybody recall Mr. Al Kahn, the music teacher from 93, and then 123? He lived on Elder, just off of Watson. He has had a lasting impression on me, giving me the attention I needed. I played trumpet and baritone horn in the band and orchestra, and have many happy memories of being in the All-Boro Band and Orchestra. I would love to hear from you if you have things we can share.
