Michael, I lived at 1000 Grand Concourse for many years through the 50's and 60's. My bedroom overlooked the Ursline Academy which was a catholic girl's school. I remember watching the girls playing on the grounds. Executive Towers went up shortly before my father died and my mother moved in there in 1970. She lived there for several years before moving to Florida. It was a great building and I hope you enjoy it as much as she did. Margie

David King of the Bx- RE:"when did you move"
I hoped around in the 1970's; lived in a pvt house betw. 166th and 165th on the Grand concourse, west of Carroll Pl, moved to Inwood (upper Manhattan), then Pelham Pkwy (2 blocks south of Jacobi Hospital) then from 1975 have lived on City Island

Mtbny et al- The name of the Church adjacent to Executive Towers was St. Simeons- an Episcopal Church; I had my confirmation there around 1964 at a ripe age of 15. Happy new year all!

PS: The homepage indicated as mine is an error; It has been removed

Oh you must be talking about the new super market near Southern Blvd and Boston Road, not 3rd Ave. Yeah thats brand new and giving the community some new jobs and a source of more food. 3rd Avenue and the Cross Bronx is just factories and a bunch of empty lots.

Another positive thing trying to help the lives of my soldiers, trying hard to live in the face of hate. Many more jobs are still needed.

Spent 1953 through 1962 at 2880 Morris Park Ave, now St Theresa's Ave. Attended St Theresa Grade School and Cardinal Hayes High School. Moved to Kansas as a High School Sophomore. I remember Bob and Jacks Candy Store and Soda Shop on Westchester Ave, and Mike and Tony's Barber Shop two doors down. Spent most of my time at the Library and the Movie Theater at Westchester Square, RKO Castle Hill, Loews Parkchester, etc. Went to lots of Yankee games and played little league baseball in Pelham Park near those huge cement bleachers that used to be there.

Happy New Year, everyone. New to the site...grew up on Claflin Ave between University Ave. and Webb Ave. Down the block from Our Lady Of Angels school. Graduated from that school in '66. Went on to Hayes and grad De Witt Clinton in '70. This site brings back great memories.
