ATT Carol B. Hello:
Grew up 166st & Morris Ave.Knew a couple of girls from Carroll Place circa 1957-64. I went to the Bronx this last spring and went to Carroll Place at 166st. The buildings on both sides are still there. I took some pictures of the place.it still looks the same. Also the building on the corner of Sheridan and 166st is still there. There has not been much damage to that neighborhood. 166st from Morris to the Concourse. just some small changes here & there.
I went to PS 90. it is still there, only no yard to play like before. had great memories on that day!!

Luis,
If this is the second time that this message goes through, I apologize. I received an error message the first time I sent this. Who were the two girls you knew from Carroll Place? I grew up there.

Hello Montrose. The two girls were Susan Nortman and Donna Greenfield, I might be mistaken on Donna's last name. But Susan I remember well. Did you go to PS 9O. After PS 90 I went to JHS 22. 58 - 61. Do you by any chance remember the dentist on 166st I think just west of Morris ave.His name was Dr.Henry Essig. reason I mention him is that he was the dentist for most of the kids from PS 90. I still have some fillings he did on me. I have dreamed that I have been in his office lately. Something I really didn't want to do when I was 13.

I was born in 1958 in Westchester Square Hospital. First 9 years of my life - raised on Seddon Street (down the block from the hospital) and then moved to my mom's home town - Throggsneck - Clarence and Randall Avenue - next to the DA Beach Club and the Manhem Club - 660 Clarence Avenue. I was raised being a member of the D.A. Beach Club and so were both my children. My mom is current the longest standing member of the D.A. Beach Club (she had her wedding to my dad almost 52 years ago at the D.A. Beach Club). My mom is also the current standing president of the NY Turner Club on Clarence Avenue. I am proud to say I am still a resident of Throggsnek (so is my daughter). At the moment I am staying with family in Washington Street. Unfortunately, my 17 year old daughter was murdered in 2/06 in Pelham Bay by her x-boyfriend. Since then my life has been upside down and have been going back and forth from Washington State to NYC and vice-vers whenever I get depressed living in NYC because of all the memories I have of my daughter.

Born in Westchster Hopsital on Friday, June 13, 1958. Lived down the block from the hospital Seddon Street) until 9 years old. My mom is originally from Throggs Neck - born and raised - she's now 76 years old - we ended up moving to Throggs Neck when I was 9 years old - I went to St. Raymonds Grammar School and continued to attend school there until graduation in 8th Grade. We moved to 660 Clarence Avenue - right next to the D.A. Beach Club in Throggs Neck. My mom is the longest standing member of the D.A. - she had her wedding to my dad there close to 52 years ago. She's also president of the NY Turner Club - also a beach club on Clarence Avenue - it was great living in the Bronx and living right on the water - most of the friends I have made throughout life were members of one of the clubs on Clarence Avenue.

Went to St. Helena's business school - graduated June 77. I currently live in Throggs Neck (my 25 year old daughter also lives in Throggs Neck - her name is Nicole Schiaffo). I met her father in the first year of high school at a St. Raymond's Boy's School Dance (his name was Billy Schiaffo - he unfortunately passed away when Nicole was 7 years old). My daughter has been called for a Parole Office position with NYC but in the meantime she works at John Shanter's Harbor Inn (my the Marine College) on Penny Field Avenue - she also waitressed at the Turner Club for many years.

My youngest daughter Danielle also was raised in the Throggs Neck section of the Bronx. Unfortunately, Danielle was murdered by her x-boyfriend (his house is in Pelham Bay) on 2/23/06. Since Danielle's death I have been back and forth from the Bronx to Washington State (I am with relatives). I'll be going back to the Bronx in February - hopefully to stay - if Danielle's memories don't get me depressed.

Hi Bobby, yes that’s me on Kingklast site, I had some newspaper clippings that I thought some at that site would like to read. I saw Kingklast on Myspace, then I think Danny also told me about that site.

I don’t know the names you mentioned but we are from the same time era, 70’s. I knew a Barbara but she was older and didn’t really hang with anyone from the area. I didn’t hang with anyone from Field Place, they were their own crowd of friends and my friends, few as they were, came from south of 183, closer to 79 schoolyard.

At two we moved to 387 E. 200th St... I went to St. Philip Neri Grade School and Mother Butler Memorial HS (formerly Sacred Heart of Mary, Marmion)-- I lived on 200th ST (between Webster and Decatur Ave - not far from Steele's Lanes) until I married and moved to Long Island...then moved to So. California in 1963 where I still reside! I was lucky to be born and raised in the BRONX!
Hi Charlie, I lived just 6 blocks south of you at 194 St and Decatur Avenue.

Mike..I probably passed your house hundreds of times on the way to Fordham Road. In 2004 I took some pictures of 200th St. and Decatur Ave.. Another Bronx friend who lived on Decatur now lives in Ft. Lauderdale...The place changed a little...but not that much! I lived above Allen Cleaners and that place is still there!
Hi Charlie...most of the buildings are still there including my house (Still occupied). Unfortunatly the neighborhood is no longer safe (drugs)

Hi, I grew up on Eagle Avenue and 149th St. in the 40's & 50's. I remember the Alexanders quite well. Lived in the South Bronx until 1957 when I moved first to Canada and the Syracuse NY. Now live in Minnesota (don't ask!). Hope to bring my kid to see the old neighborhood (if it still exists) so she can get a feel for "the good old days".
