Michael, what is your opinion on that sad situation over at 1277 Morris Ave?. That nonsense would have NEVER been tolerated in the Bronx of yesteryear.

Thanks Michael...back in the glory days, the city agencies would never tolerate this and there were very few problems involving absentee owners and landlords...the Super was King!

Michael, I was in the Executive Towers yesterday for the first time in maybe 30 years and I was blown away by how absolutely beautiful it is. I looked at 2 apartments, one on the 24th floor with a spectacular, I mean spectacular view of the Manhattan skyline and Hudson River, and another apartment on the 23rd floor with expansive north east and south views. Each had a gorgeous balcony. I was a bit shocked at the prices, thinking they would be cheaper, but they were both over 300K. I would have to say that they seemed to be worth the money and the sales lady said there is now a very large influx of younger professionals who are looking for an alternative to the insane Manhattan prices. 4 stops on the D train and you're at 59th St!!!! quote: Originally posted by mtbny7: All is going well... people are moving in, selling apts, etc like wildfire. And, Barbara Corcorran (sp?) the Real Estate guru, said that the area is like Brooklyn was 10 years ago (meaning buy now!)
I paid $135K for my place in Jan 2005 and now it's worth $350K! I realize that $350K is not a lot in NYC but it's a big jump in a short time. I still think the area is under-valued - where else in NYC can you get a HUGE apt for these prices?

Yep, it's a really great place to live! Hurry on down before it's $400K, $500K, or more!
The commute is amazing. I work at Lincoln Center, so every morning I leave the building, walk through Joyce Kilmer Park to clear my head (wake up), get on D at 161st ST, and 4 stops later emerge at 59th St. wow! It's faster than when i lived on E 92 ST in Mnhtn!

Wow, I lived on Rogers Place, 4th floor with my sister Nicki that was back in the early 60's. Left there then moved to Longfellow Ave.

Good morning, I know where Rogers Place and 163rd Street meet Stebbins. There was a Jamacian gentleman named Mr. Rogers who ran the Crotona Babe Ruth Leage back in the early sixties.who lived on Rogers Place. Now in San Francisco where the weather is not cold! Barry

Stan, I lived in 156 during that time. What floor were you on? Knew all the good apartments to go to on Halloween. I was on the 7th floor.
